IIRC wasn't it Zeke is whom tested their Cast first offering to 5K or maybe 6K..... I forget.

IF my memory serves, Zeke's been doing the Riley tests for awhile now with better success apparently.

I do vaguely recall a Riley rifle that swallowed the "no go" gauge easily @ only 300 rounds, I forget which one it was....circa 2018

I know the steel looks super clean VS Russian forgings......but who knows.
Zooming in on it I can easily see pitting in the steel. It is definitely a different shade though, but I have no clue what that entails.

They already said the release was going to be Fall of 2019, then within 60 days for multiple products during Shot Show this year, with none of them released yet.

I wouldn't hold your breath for this year.

None of you guys noticed the 7.62 rear sight ramp? Not going to do well with irons at extended distances.

Competition will be a good thing for the 74 market, can't wait to see what PSA does.

It's a crappy low-res pic but the texture and lack of sharp edges looks like forgings to me.

This is a crank forging. General color, texture, and rounded "bloated" shape look similar.

Hope that they forge their bolts as well. I saw pictures from KUSA with forged carriers and trunnions on their social media, but they were very cagey about how they make their bolts - which turned out to be "forged billets." Don't like that kind of weasel wording.

Same here. When you slip on your CSI goggles and zoom in while saying "enhance", you can see the line going around the midline from the forge. They have rounded corners and do not have holes yet for the barrel or rivets.

Yep, first Shot Show announcement I echoed this exact sentiment about the booth guys elusive wording in 2 different videos.
I still don't think they're forged based on how they are "weasel wording" it.

The bolt is the more critical area also like the trunnion and should be forged.
They will sell some still , but I'm hoping people wait for the product to be proven as viable before doing so. Not another DDI Trinity

I know a lot of people hate this guy but he explains the differences pretty well. At least I learned something especially when it comes to the difference between forged and forged billet.

A little off topic but Brandon Herrera is a total sodding charlatan. His "AK Guy" rifles were a massive boondoggle plagued with delays. His "AK Factory" branding had me intrigued at first but immediately destroyed my interest when he just showed videos of a bunch of surplus parts and tooling for ASSEMBLY, not for fabrication of parts. Puked a little in my mouth when he said "yeah bro we'll be building underfolder Tantals, bet you haven't seen that before."

Honestly I wish he would've just cut in on some of Apex's and Arms of America's market and sell the complete parts kits and small parts directly to individual buyers; drive down prices for surplus stuff a bit. I'd much rather get a complete Tantal kit that I could sent off to have built, rather than one of his shitheap builds.

Hey Rob. Dont forget the internet is full of weirdos with no life that only get satisfaction from arguing on the internet. Normal Joe's like me think what you do for the community is awesome and a huge favor all the way around.

Forging is a whole topic on it's own. Without a rep that knows what's going on, this topic of riley's forged parts is what it is, a mystery. If guys want a mystery rifle, take a shot.

Who is "we all"? The Gen2 PSA passed Rob's test. There are plenty of happy Gen2 owners. They had some problems with fitment on the wood stocks, and they had a batch of undersized firing pin retaining pins, but there were no problems with the trunions that I'm aware of. Mine has yet to have a hiccup.

I don't want to derail the thread into a PSA thread, but that's a baseless blanket statement. If you believe that Riley is using billet instead of forgings, and you believe that to be inferior, that's your prerogative, but don't try to pull everyone else into it.

It's funny, the early cast Riley's seemed to do pretty good. It was only after they moved to forged parts that they started exhibiting problems. Kind of backwards. Lol

Demand > supply = high prices.

Eco 101

I remember when Sportsman's Guide was blowing out 74 kits a few years back for something like $150 or $200 bucks. I was out of town that week and didn't check the Files and missed out on that opportunity. I would have bought 5 kits at those prices!!

Worm, when i got the auction ending nofication from GB, that was about my reaction as well.

I really only listed the kit last week to have something up following being drained of most of my auctions after teh Corona panic buying.
I fished it out of my parts kit tub at the end of our picture time as an after thought. Figured a few kits would do since gun inventory is so low ATM.

If you really want to be amazed, go look at what my HK MR556A1 brought last Saturday though.

100% can confirm its me and no shill bidding.
Also can confirm actual buyers here, at least hope so since i mailed items off already lol.

lol, I bet you nearly shit your pants when you saw the bids. I'm just shocked since AoA was selling those kits for like $350-$400 not more than few months back.

Before being machined most forgings go through an acid bath or media blast to remove scale that would otherwise decimate tooling to the point of putting a significant increase cost per piece
