Default Ruger MKIV Tactical

Picked it up from my FFL Thursday and mounted a red dot and Hogue grips. Itíll be mainly a suppressor host. Iíve been using an Obsidian 9 suppressor on my 22ís while I wait for my DA Mask and Occulus to get out of NFA jail. Hoping I find time to sight in and shoot it this weekend.

What else ya gonna put on the bottom rail? With the suppressor on there the Bayonet would look silly!

Debating between a Ruger Mark IV Tactical or 22/45 Lite for the Rugged Oculus currently in jail. I’m currently leaning towards the 22/45 Lite. Thoughts?

I prefer the feel of all metal guns like my SW Victory.

Already eyeing the MKIV stainless threaded Target model.

I've heard nothing but good things about those S&Ws, but to my eye at least they are butt-ugly compared to the Ruger. I have a SS MKII bull bbl I worked over, but the new MKIV models are starting to make me consider selling it to fund a new one. Never had an issue with field stripping the older guns, but that 1911 style mag release and safety are growing on me! Factory threaded bbl is another plus, maybe someday I will be able to send Uncle Sugar $200...

Nice ,have a 22/45 setup real close to yours.Let them laugh at the light but sometimes you need to shoot pests possums, skunks and the like .
Enjoy it.

I'm rocking a 22/45 LITE. Mine's a gen 3.
Only complaint is the stupid magazine disconnect safety and the takedown is a bitch. I replaced the mag disconnect with a bushing which makes it basically a gen 2. Not sure if thats an option on the gen 4 or not. And definitely the breakdown is a lot easier on the gun 4 and they have a nicer safety lever. If you can find one thats not completely retarded race gun looking, its worth getting. For some reason, they like to make the LITE ones all gucci, and they take them a bit too far. Find a plain black one.

Also, not sure what the magazine situation is. Starting with the gen 4, the mags were different and you lose backward compatibility. If you care about spare mags, check on the price and availability. For gen 3, you can find ruger mags as well as aftermarket pretty cheap.

I thought MKIII and MKIV mags were the same? MKI/MKII mags were heel release with no mag disconnect, the MKIII went to the pushbutton mag release that required a matching slot in the mag and IIRC had a small tab pressed in to activate the mag safety. And of course the 22/45 mags were always slotted with a different baseplate, I assume the MKIII up also had the safety release tab pressed in as well.

What I want are for real stainless steel mags from MecGar! Sucks having a SS gun but having to use blued mags in them and dealing with rust issues. I believe the newer MKIII/IV mags are nickel plated. Step in the right direction!

I think its the baseplates that were changed for 22/45 gen 4. They added some sort of spring loaded mag ejector in the bottom of the grip and the way that interfaces with the mags means the gen 3 and earlier wont work.

I bought a mk3 22/45 lite brand new and its gone to shit under 500 rounds. it has FTF, FTEj/Ex, had a mag go bad. The pistol also seems to have an issue with limpwristing which is funny in an ironic sense. I'm really disappointment in it.

The abmbi thumb safety on the Mk4's is a hard pass for me because its so easy to bump with the index knuckle of the shooting hand

My MK 4 Tactical came with a spacer to delete the right side safety.

GrabAGun has a sale on MK 3,4 mags for $27 for 2 so picked up 4. Their 10/22 BX 25ís were also on sale so grabbed 4 of those as well.

Shot 500 rounds today using CCI subsonic Clean, Blazer and Golden Bullets. All went bang w/o issue. It really likes the CCI Cleans just like my other 22ís. Only had to do a couple click adjustments to get the red dot sighted in. It really was accurate with those. The Blazers werenít too bad either. GBís were kind of ok which is to be expected but they all went bang. I really need to find more of the CCI Clean subs because my stash is dwindling.

So far Iím very happy with the gun and will probably get the Stainless threaded Target next.
