Default Internet Explorer users 'have below-average IQ'

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...verage-IQ.html

PC World reports that a "psychometric consulting" firm called AptiQuant gave free online IQ tests to 100,000 people, and then plotted the scores against the browser on which the tests were taken.

It found that Internet Explorer users scored lower than average, while Chrome, Firefox and Safari users were very slightly above average. Camino, Opera and Internet Explorer with Chrome Frame were scored "exceptionally" high.

I used Firefox in the past but now I'm back to IE. Last IQ score was 138 though. Could I just be digressing? LOL. Seems like a silly study to me but interesting.

I used to use Opera a lot, but some pages come up funky looking. I have been using Firefox since they upgraded it a few months ago and so far it has been the best all round browser for me. I've tried about all of them- Safari, Chrome, IE, you name it. I currently have 4 browsers installed. I keep going back to Firefox though. Movie and multimedia sites work best on it too. I'll stick with it till something better comes out.

Did the newest Firefox update cause this? I really dislike the new one. They made too many changes to break from the normal setup. Open in new window being moved etc just breaks me.

I am thinking about trying out Chrome. Some of the new changes on Firefox just annoy me. I had to mod my browser to act more like the last edition of Firefox. For some reason if I open a page in a new window with the Cnrl key, it wont show the URL so if I want to copy it, I have to open another page and go back. Google wont save past searches with the new version of Firefox also.. making it a pain to type in a couple letters to get to what I want.

The study is silly as most folks will simply go for whatever browser works best for them. I have no brand loyalties when it come to browsers...whatever is free and works I use. And with free browser downloads why not try them all?

Chrome is ok IMO. It has some vulnerability issues though. Though it's not quite ready for prime time- I like the chrome TV plug-in which lets you watch channels like the history channel and discovery live streams (sort of quirky and half-ass though, but hey, it's free and I don't have cable). I was using Chrome for movie sites, but I got a bad trojan attack a while back while using it. Defiantly run a good anti-viral program like avast and keep a firewall up when using (this is a good idea anyway). Like I said, I have 4 browsers installed and use whatever works depending on what I'm doing, but Firefox multi-tasks the best on my PC. Won't be long and somebody else will come out with something better.......

I'll chalk this one up to ignorance (and not a low IQ) . .

Firefox is the browser-only component of the "Netscrap" suite.

When Firefox is updated, so is "Netscrap" (at least the browser part).

Do you run Spybot Search and Destroy and Avast? If you dont have though, I suggest downloading them. They work quite well at protecting your system. Spybot closes some security loopholes in the different browsers when it comes to malware and spyware.

And I do have to agree, the study is quite silly.. I just found it funny it made the news.

EE..... Cntrl+t for new tab? I rarely open new windows, just tabs. Sometimes I open a new window for videos but in general I try not to have more than one instance of my browser open at any time.... (and I have 3 monitors.....)

I agree tho, some changes were less than desirable for me and I had to hunt down the options to change em back.....
