I've searched and searched and can't find what I'm looking for. I'm wanting an Ace folder on my Zastava PAP. It's getting converted in a few and I need to pick up the pace on my 922 parts purchase.
My question is, what do I need? On the Ace website they have a yugo block (no tang design), but can I attach the folding mechanism or skeleton stock directly to that? Sorry for the noob questions, but this is my first AK experience, so all help is appreciated. Last edited by Veni Vici; 04-07-2011 at 07:59 PM. |

As far as I know all of the Ace receiver blocks are drilled and tapped to accept any of their Skeleton stocks and or their folding gizmos, together or separately.

That's what I was hoping for, but I figured I'd better ask since I have to order just about everything "sight unseen".
Thanks. |

It might look a little weird with that slant cut receiver. Like something is missing. Dunno., but that is what I see on the PAP cut away receiver.

AKBLUE- I'm going to see what it looks like. If I can't live with it, I'll either get a little welding done or put a band around it to cover it.

I'm working on the conversion and trying to get the 922 regs met, but I'm not having much luck. I can only find one "yugo" rated handrail (utg m70 quad) and the ACE seems to be the only real option for the stock.
Does anyone know where more yugo furniture is available? |

Call ace and talk to them they were very helpful getting me what I needed and saved a bit since I was ordering the wrong kit...there site is poorly done. Pretty sure there is a ultimak rail and I think there is a midwest rail too. Gl

Fire control group = 3., gas piston, muzzle brake, ronin US grip. Or Irinwood Design furniture.

Yeah, I'm going to get a G2 FCG so that's three. Then, I'm looking into the stocks. Thing is, I could easily be in this thing for $700-$800. I'm not sure I want to get in it that much. This is my first AK, but I'm liking playing with the internals much better than my AR's.

Exactly what I was thinking when you posted about stocks and all that. Unless you are going to get the rear welded and a new bolt and the magwell opened etc., etc., I would leave it alone. It is a candidate for restoration to military look for $250. But hanging stuff off it., dunno., it is what it is., a civilian single stack, high quality built fireram. Niot military in look or function. But just my .02.

Well, I bought just to get my feet wet with the AK system. Then, I heard about a guy local who is a very good gunsmith than can open the magwell. So that got me thinking about all the other mess.
When I started looking at stocks, I couldn't believe the Ironwood sets are $200 and I have stain them, so I really couldn't find anything substantial aside from ACE ($125 with Yugo block shipped). Then, if I mess with it, I don't want to put a cheap piece of plastic on the forearm, so the metal UTG is $70, there are better pieces out there, but again, that's a large investment for a fun plinker. I may just buy a buttload of mags and couplers, and shoot the crap out of it. Then again, there is something to be said about being mall-ninja tactic-cool...

Another stupid question...
I saw this http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=283352 and wondered if it could be made to fit my Zastava PAP? It looks like it would seat in the rear mount, but I can't tell if it requires a tang on the top. I realize it is for milled receivers, but looking at the pictures it looks like it might be made to work. |

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I guess I'm gonna bite the bullet and order that ACE. It's hard because I don't have a local shop that carries anything for the AK, so I have to order anything just to get my hands on it.

I wouldn't contaminate a quality firearm with anything UTG. I do love the looks of the PAP, I'm with you on wanting to use double stack mags. Good luck, I'm watching with interest as I may need a PAP also.
