A large brass drift and an air chisel with a hammer attachment should be able to bump it out from behind. For a brass "drift" I use a bushing (bearing) from a asphalt spreader but anything similar, should work. There are some other methods people use.

Option 2 - reach through with a long socket extension or metal rod. You need a copper or brass buffer to protect the breach. It could be a stock of pennies, washers, brass nuts, whatever. Whack the rod/extension with a mallet/hammer. Be sure not to let the rod/extension get off the pennies.
Option 3 - I bought a long 3/8" bolt (I think it's 3/8" I suck at remembering numbers) and double stacked two brass nuts on it. That way I can tighten them against each other and lock them in place plus easily replace them as they get beat up. You could use threaded rod, etc. Definitely double check the diameter - I may well be off about the 3/8" comment. You then hit this assembly with the hammer/mallet to drive it forward. Do a few hits and check, a few and check. You may not need to hit it much to get back where you want. |

Must have been a US barrel build? Otherwise you woudl have allready taken the barrel out to begin with and known how to do it?
12mm socket, couple pennies and a 3" extension is how I have always done it. ( using the big F hammer method) |

Knall,
nah, orig. Bbl. on a Polish UF- My first AK Build- so I was cautious. most of the builds I've done didn't involve pressing so I was movin slowly there. I left the rear trunion *just in case* glad I did, otherwise I think it woulda been harder to press back it where it belonged. you guys with a few kits under your belts know the tricks, this was my first build in six years & I was a bit rusty |
