Can't get the trunion off an AMD kit. Barrel pin came out without problems. Tried pulling it using a gear puller. The puller I used was an old Craftsman 5 1/2 inch model. Didn't budge. I'm thinking maybe this puller couldn't put enough force one the setup or maybe I was afraid of breaking something. It pushed thru some of the pennies though. I might be able to get into my father in laws work to use a press there this week. Its a 100 ton press. Should I have any concerns over using a press this large? Any advice will be appreciated.

The large press is not a problem. Ak-Builder.com sells a kit that I have found fantastic for removing barrels. Set some 1/2" or larger parallels under the face of the trunion and press it out. Go slowly. When it pops and moves about 1/4", stop. using a very fine grit stone dremel bit, go into the barrel pin hole and radius the front lip of the barrel pin hole[very slightly] this will reduce the chance of that lip digging into the barrel. This is what some think is galling when in fact it is the sharp edge of the trunion digging in. With a small radius on this, the possibility is greatly reduced. Hope this helps. Another good source for videos, and pictures of the process is Ak-Builder.com. Go to his download section and see how this is done using his barrel press kit.

I got it apart today with a pulley puller. What I did was put a small piece of mild steel on top of the pennys. The puller was pushing a hole in the pennys and the trunion wouldn't budge. The steel spread the force over the pennys better and wouldn't give enough for the puller to push thru it. Worked for me.
