I love the reliability of the AK platform... but I want at least one weapon that uses .223.
I saw on Century's website that they will be selling a WASR in .223. Does anyone have one or know if this would be a good solution? It would be great if this used AR mags (for price/availability). My previous .223 pick was a CAI Golani from SOG. |

I like the Saiga .223, you could get one of those and convert it to look like a standard AK. Cobras customs has ar mag adapters in the marketplace you could purchase. It's really hard to beat the quality for the price on the Saiga .223 IMHO.

Thanks, I have not purchased a Galil yet. I had just selected that as my .223 choice for the near future. It seems i better do some searching on Saiga .223 now.

Yes, get a factory (not sold by Arsenal) Saiga and do your own conversion. It'll be less expensive than a WASR and you'll know that no drunk monkeys (or Romanians) have been near it.
It's easy to do and you'll end up with a brand new Russian made Kalashnikov. Don't worry about the mechanics of it, if you can change the oil in your car - you can convert a Saiga. |

Are going to build? I've had a WASR-3 for years and they had the SAR-3 before that. Runs great after some debugging I did myself but they could have done it easily if I needed them too. I've been busy putting all manner of fun stuff on it.
The last pic I took of it.

Saiga .223 do the full conversion including bullet ramp guide. you will then find that you are searching for Izzy Galil Orelite 35 rd .223 mags that fit great after a minor 30 second mod.

One thing to note: Saigas are 1:7 twist as are Arsenals and WASRs are 1:9.
