Default TGI Knoxville TN Hungarian AK 47

I put a very small amount of money down at the Local GS on an AK 47 which I believe is a AMD-65. To hold it for me for a couple of days.

I have search the forum and I found some information mostly from 2005-2007.

They have it marked for $350.00 OTD. It looks new. No box and it comes with an unmarked plastic 20 rd mag. Tapco marked trigger The side folder locks up tight without any movement. Rear sight leaf is marked up to 800 Meters. Forward pistol grip which appears to be the regular pistol grip turned backwards. No upper handguard, lower metal handguard is squarish with alongated slots in the side and bottom. Sights and gas tube appears to be straight, The cleaning rod appears to be correct and fits.

There appears to be a barrel extenstion between the FSG and the muzzle attachement.

I have very little knowledge about the AK 47's. I am still learning and none about this model. I am reading a book called "the Grim Reaper" to help me gain some knowledge.

Any useful information would be helpful

Sounds like a good deal if its in very good shape. Is there a reason you want this to be your first AK?

This is my 3rd AK 47. My first was a YUGO underfolder, My second was a G model WASR 10 converted to accept 30 Rd Mags. It had a stock trigger and a POS US made side folding stock that had more wiggle then a Hula girl. I changed the stock out to a wooden one from Centerfire and installed a Tapco single hook trigger.

I am transitioning from the AR platform to the AK platform, after using the AR platform for over 40 years. I had many excuses for not doing the change over earlier. My first AK was a 10-2010 purchase on a whim.

My first experience with an AK was in 1966

Ohh sounds cool man, I was just going to suggest a more run of the mill AK (Like the two you already have own/owned) over the AMD for a first time purchase.

I have not shoot any AMD but from what I have researched they are the loudest AK you can buy due to the muzzle break configuration. People seem to like them and builders built alot of them before.
They have a sale online for 20 round magazines if you think they will work better ergonomically.

I am not an expert though on the AK... hopefully you will get more feedback soon

Hope it works out for you

I have a AMG-65 and have no problems with the gun..
The extension is on there due to the fact that if it was'nt it would have to be classified as a short barreled rifle .
yes, it's loud but I think my Draco ak-47 pistol is louder.

Be wary of TGI quality, they are hit and miss just like Century builds, they are cheap for a reason. I have experienced this "quality" firsthand.

Look at the receiver, and make sure it says "FEG".Thats the best one for a AMD 65. Mine came from TGI 2 years ago,and I haven't had any problems with it.
