Bears or Bigfoot? That's what villagers in Shennongjia, Hubei Province are wonder-ing ever since one man named Ding Fei, 33, found mysterious thick curly hairs with transparent roots on July 9 at a location called Swallow Hole on a local mountain.
After Ding reported his discovery to the neighborhood committee, some professional researchers found additional hairs and a 30-centimeter-long footprint at the same place on July 11. According to their research, the hair isn't human or livestock, but the possibility of bears could not be ruled out. http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/90...2/7071159.html

Results of tests performed by a research institution of Shennongjia nature reserve on hairs and footprints found by the villagers in Shennongjia have proved inconclusive, the institute reported on July 13.
The place where villagers found these hairs and footprints is 18 kilometers from the capital of Shennongjia forest region and 2,000 meters above the sea level. It belongs to the alpine zone and few people enter this area. The Panshui village committee received the report from Shennongjia forest region government that a villager had found some hairs while searching for herbs on July 9. The investigators came to the locality on the morning of July 11 and found more than 20 scattered hairs in the 2-square-meter range. Meanwhile, a 30-centimeters-long footprint was discovered. The investigator submitted some of the hair sample to the research institute of Shennongjia nature reserve on July 13. Yang Kaihua, the vice director of the institute, said that according to the flame-treated identification method, they have confirmed the hairs belonging to animal. However, they are surely not in the list of already-identified animals in Shennongjia. http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/90...2/7066196.html
