Default FOR YOUSE GUYS WHO WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT FIDDLEHEADS...NOW NEW PHOTOS 05/05

HAD A WONDERFUL MESS OF FRESH FIDDLE HEADS LAST NIGHT FOR DINNER. MY WIFE BLANCHED THE LITTLE BUGGERS UNTIL AL DENTE AND THEN A QUICK SAUTEE IN GARLIC, BUTTER AND SPICES, ADD A DASH OF LOUISIANA GOLD DOT HOT SAUCE AND A SIDE OF BEET GREENS WITH HOT PEPPER SAUCE AND YOU HAVE AN INCREDIBLE DINNER.
FIDDLE HEAD SEASON IS A MIRACLE OF TIMING, TO COLD AND WET NO FIDDLEHEADS, TOO WARM AND HOT AND THEY POP IN A DAY. TOO EARLY AND IT'S WOODY AND TOUGH, TOO LATE AND THEY ARE BITTER AND STRINGY. JUST RIGHT AND THEY ARE A DELIGHT. \

JEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wasn't aware McD was headquartered in West Hollywood. But I haven't eaten there for over 20 years, and that's simply because the stupid drive-through attendant didn't give me change for my $20, and then apparently pocketed it. The mgr said that he did a drawer count and it was spot on.
Maybe it was A GAY CONSPIRACY!!!!!!!

HAAAA I've now got my lottery in for this year's moose permit.. ...common State o' Maine roll me some lucky numbers boys...I actually found a package of three year old moose burger buried at the bottom of the freezer. Looks in surprisingly good shape,,,,now that would go good with the fiddleheads...
And now I'm the jeolous one....HEY SKEETEBAY how is your fiddlehead season going?. Those folks from Northern and Downeast Maine get all the good fiddleheads, were struggling down here to pick a couple gallons worth. And yes salt pork is mighty fine.... and LUZrd you can take the fiddleheads and sautee them off in left over bacon grease with a few crumbles of bacon bits for flavor as well... just remember the crushed garlic and diced onions and hot sauce....

whooooaaaa there Gamblin,,,,these are Northern Cinnimon ferns that we call fiddleheads. A lot of ferns are not edible and even some fiddleheads species can cause food poisoning. I think there was an out break of that in Up state NY a few years ago.
Down in Mississippi you could be getting a whole different type. Check it out before trying. And that is coming from an Idiot who on the advice of Alton Brown, chowed down on some leaves from that stupid KUDZU plant you guys have growing everywhere. I was fortunate to have a whole lot of antihystamine benedryl available when my throat and neck started swelling up...
Hey Luz, the last moose I took was with my Mosin Nagant M44 , unscrewed the bayonet and used 180 grain sellier bellot copper jacketed. 206 yards, clocked him though the lungs. This time I may go with the .54 flintlock, or back to the Nagant.
