I have only been a gun owner for 2 years and this is my first time posting on a forum so take it easy on me haha. I bought a sagia/arsenal ak-47 a year ago bought a conversion kit and had a gunsmith do it, everything looked/worked great except it would not take regular ak mags I had to have the gunsmith modify ak mags otherwise they would cause a bullet to jam. I have done some research and found that there is a bullet guide you can buy will this solve my prolem so that i can use regular ak mags? If so which one should i buy?

Dunno which bullet guide you need. I just bought romy ones from. You can weld em in or you can also drill and tap them in or if your crafty, you can set up a bucking bar and install a rivet. This is what I did on my second. If memory serves, you also have to trim the mag catch because a regular AK mag won't lock in. Not a terribly difficult modification to do. This has been addressed many times here. A search should turn up a bunch of crap too.
As I recall now, I also had to trim down the guide to fit. But, yeah, they won't work for poop if you don't get the bullet guide in.

You can't spell "Slaughter" without "Laughter" The AK47 is a cheap POS designed to be assembled in third world shitholes by a labor force composed of knuckle dragging, booger eating morons. It was then to be handed out to an army of uneducated peasant retards who couldn't find their own ass with both hands and a map. Thats the true genius of the design and why it remains ubiquitous to this day. Gotmine on Barrack Obama: "He is, indeed, a bugger of the third magnitude." |

You need a Saiga conversion bullet guide not a factory AK bullet guide. There are at least two types of Saiga front trunnions. Remove the bolt. Look at the chamber end of the barrel. Right behind and under the rear of the barrel the trunnion will either be "round" (round type) or have a "flat" or a recess (flat type) cut into it. Sometimes there is a rivet hole but often there is no rivet hole. A hole needs to be drilled with a small drill press and tapped for threads. If there is rivet hole, it is larger than the hole normally used for a Saiga bullet guide conversion and a larger screw is required and that usually requires grinding down the size of the larger screw head. With most Saiga bullet guides conversions a smaller screw is used and the screw head is not large enough to interfere with the bolt. The hole is very small in diameter requiring a stretch in length of standard drill bits. The small diameter and threads also requires care not to break the small sized thread tap.
Besides the bullet guide the magazine catch lever in the Saiga needs to be shortened slightly at it's top end to allow standard AK magazines to catch. Complete instructions for complete Saiga conversion using a home made bullet guide. http://www.cross-conn.com/Saiga_Conversion/ Easiest way is to buy a bullet guide conversion kit though. http://www.dinzagarms.com/index.html Above website also has instructions. I have a 7.62x39 I am not "crafty" at all and do not trust myself to do any of that so I will have a gunsmith do it as far as the mags not catching can get regular ak mags to catch and fit fine they just cause a round to jam im not sure if when i had the conversion done by a gunsmith if he may have already done that part and just was unaware of the need for a bullet guide
