Default Fishin Freedom gone now as well....

Mein GOTT what is this country coming toooo......

The Bastards have finally pushed me over the edge....

PORTLAND, Maine -- Many saltwater anglers are going to have to register with the federal government.

The new federal law that takes effect Friday exempts anglers with licenses in the 15 coastal states that already have comprehensive licensing requirements.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, registering is free in 2010. A fee will be assessed starting in 2011.

But in the other coastal states - Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and Hawaii -- they'll have to register for the most part if they fish more than three miles offshore or go after fish that live in the ocean and spawn in fresh water, such as striped bass or shad.

The registry aims to collect better information about saltwater anglers and what they catch.

WHAT BS......oh and next year we have to pay a $25 REGISTRATION FEE....
f**King government sticking their stinking hands into everything, since the 1600's we've been fishing stipers and shad from our shores with no licensing....
....the Bastards
....
F**em...let em catch me....

Comrades...We all have to do our part to support our burgeoning gov't. and the assault on our freedoms in furthering the development of a welfare state for the bums and illegals(wetbacks).

At least the US recognises the needs of recreational sea anglers & their important input to local economies.
Over here the f%^&ing trawlers work right up to the shore & beaches are covered in nets from December to June. The bastards in gov't only listen to the thieving, law-breaking commercials & us poor sods have less & less fish every year.

If I thought $25 a year per angler was being used to stop this shit, then I'd willingly pay it - in fact I'd pay $2,500 quite happily as my livelihood depends 90% on recreational sea fishing.

They imposed a federal lands fee in ca. years ago and most never bought
the tags, when they fined them they found out there was no mechanism to
collect the money. I don't know how it all came out but most of my old friends
still don't pay the fee. It depends how the state wardens treat it, if they feel the
feds are stealing their doe they may systematically look the other way.

Florida has imposed a license requirement that I ignored last time I visited. Weather was so bad no enforcement droids were present. Just can't abide with my lonesome ass throwing a single line off the beach into salt water being their bailiwick. Afraid it's just ONE MORE LAW I'm going to ignore.

Dad, you may have me there. Some taxes I gladly pick up. My home state fishin' license, hunting and game tags the same. I know where that money goes. I was In Florida 4 days. Fished two. Just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Besides, never beached a single damn fish, but the time I spent tryin' helped restore a few parts of me that needed it. So on that hand, maybe I should have. Life is full of those moments, ain't it?

I hear ya on the licensing, my hunting fishing combo this year, when I threw in the Werecoyote night hunt permit, put me over $103.00. I might bitch about the price but a good friend is a Sargent in the Maine Warden Service and I've helped on a number of his investigations (I had the metal detector, State's too cheap to buy one) and have been there when they do lost child search's so I really don't have a beef, other then I wish the weanie hikers, bird watchers, kayakers would lend a hand at some of the expenses.
What pisses me off about this law is that the money is going to go to NOAA. National Oceanic and Atmospheric administration....to supposidley study the fishing impact by anglers. I hear ya English Mike, I worked on a Commercial dragger and a Gill netter during the late 70's early 80's. It was only a 90 footer but we threw back more dead fish in one haul back then I could catch and release in a friggin decade. tons and tons of fish dumped over board. For a few years we allowed the Russian procession ships up inside our coast to drag for Poggies, they swept the bottom clean and then processed ALL animal matter into feau fish sticks. Wonder why the species collapsed for about 10 years...duhhhhh
No this is just another grab by our wonderous Government looking to tax anything that they can.
Again I am Pissed....

I have a unified sportsman license that includes salt water fishing. If I shoot a duck I will be a federal felon because I don't have a waterfowl license. Even if the damn duck never left North Carolina. And our game wardens are authorized to charge you with a federal as well as state felony even though they work only for the state.
I got a shellfish license. The regulations book is an inch thick and does not cover local restrictions. I never read it. I just don't want to mess with the clams and the fish cops. I'll let it expire.
What else will they tax next?

I hear ya Festus, our clam diggin license is another 15 bucks, but since the state let the commercial diggers in with their machines it's not worth the work or bother to go after the steamers. Too bad to becuase that is a resource that the town's control and we pay extra to reseed the flats and then the state went and allowed out of town commercial diggers to come in and wipe out all our work... another bunch of worthless bastards.
