Do you guys think the last line of this Bill (S. 941 and H.R. 2296: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Reform and Firearms Modernization Act of 2009) will let AK=Kits with barrels be imported again?
Restore a policy that allowed importation of barrels, frames and receivers for non-importable firearms, when they can be used as repair or replacement parts. http://www.nraila.org/Issues/FactShe...d=251&issue=28 |

"Reform" is a good word, especially when it applies to the ATF. Wonder if it will stick.

All the change in the world will make no differance when suddenly there are ( problems ) with paperwork from Customs, BATF, and bonded warehouses.
ther would also be ( problems ) in foreign countries with shipping, handling, and storage due to the U.N. I think where whipping a dead mule on this one.

We no see barreled cut kits any more; unless you have them stored at your house/shop. They will not allow this to happen again under a demorat administration.

I suppose it might slip through.
In honesty I don't think a kit without an orig bbl is worth shit and I wouldn't throw my money away. Maybe in a couple of years I will have wished I had bought 'em. This is all rather pointless though. We should be making a full court press on getting the '68 GCA repealed. That is the worst thing we face. I can live with the '34 NFA. That is benign in comparison. Repeal the '68 GCA and all sorts of crappy things will go away. Wouldn't it be nice to buy orig comblock AKs and orig FALs, G3s, MP5s, etc? There is a ton more in the '68 GCA that makes life for FFLs and gun owners a royal PITA. Repeal '68 GCA. Gunowners should drop all the rest of this and go full bore on that. I expect we'll have some Repubs who are against repealing it, even. Will 'bongo sign it? Doubtful. But it would still unify gunowners against the politicians at a time when they are looking for cover and hiding from the Tea Party, NRA, etc. I say we go for it. After the GCA is repealed then go after the States in the Courts. WTF is going on in New York for instance? With Heller and the Shitcago SCOTUS decisions how in the Hell do they think they have a leg to stand on with all of their gun control laws? These cases need to go for monetary damages though. We need to start making it prohibitively expensive. New York needs a Class Action Suit. I think they could win there. Same in Kali. Actually, I think they'd have a chance of winning there. But go after GCA. Everyone of us and our organizations should be focusing on that.

Agree with the Doc on this one, we have bigger fish to fry
that said import restrictions on parts kits, ammo and the like taking a swan dive would be fantastic

I wonder??
With the ammount of US Treasury Bonds/Securities the Chinese Hold - Maybe an "MORE" even import/export trade playing field would be called for. Like OK to ship Chinese ammo and parts. Keep the Chinese currency {Da Wahnn} value low so we can buy more ammo. Maybe the US goverment wanted to ban the barrels - so the new rifles being inported from the Old Commie Block countries could be sold and tracked. Any way I hope this kits with full barrels goes through - why not - it would in the correct dirrection.
