I need 2 m70 yugo flats, with the bulge, the good flats from tapco only need the the yugo ones, not the standard flats, the ones that have the underfolder holes all punched out, thanks Ray, raydel@ktis.net

Had trouble with them Ace?
I'm still rolling the idea around on going that route on a couple of M70 builds. Let me know if I'm screwing up or what to look out for, I've not ran across any really bad info as of yet on those flats other than they were flawed a while back but was straightened out.. I am also somewhat considering the ORF receivers too. Good price on them at 40 beans+ Sams' cut over the counter.

They are WAY off, I bought some, them milled a bending jig to Proper specs, it was a joke. If you bend them Wrong, using a normal die, then Shim... they can work, but they are useless to try and do it Right. I REALLY wish someone made Real flats for them... I have a couple to build and it looks like they may never get done.

Thanks Ace, Will definitely give that deep consideration on the workaround if I go that route.,
As mentioned, I may go with ORF receivers. M70 Receiver $ 39.95 Ohio Rapidfire.

If they didn't want $40 more for the Same thing without the Underfolder holes, I'd of ordered a couple from them... Tho I'd prefer to Bend my own. AK-Builder (Curtis) looked into making some flats, but would need to Pre Sell a BUNCH to cover the cost of the tooling.

Absolutely would prefer to roll my own too but with the price of a flat that has to be torqued , tweaked and screwed with and is in essence the same price of an over the counter receiver I may go with the pre-bent.,
But truth be told, I'm just going to have to try and do a flat or two just to see how much I can screw it up. Ha! " Tho I'd prefer to Bend my own. AK-Builder (Curtis) looked into making some flats, but would need to Pre Sell a BUNCH to cover the cost of the tooling." I could have sworn a couple / three weeks ago I saw the M70 type flats there on Curtis's site, then were they gone. Am I wrong? Or were they Tapco and he pulled them?

I welded the Axis pin holes up, annealed and re drilled in the proper place, then bent to Proper Yugo specs... there is a 3/16 Gap at the bottom of the trunnions, and it's a Joke. They designed it to be bent on a Normal 1.25" die, ALL Dimensions are Off.
Curtis has the M-90 flats, but no 1.5 mm or Bulged Trunnions. |

Man, Doesn't leave a lot of option for the lesser experienced/ equipped builder does it..
So that's the problem, Tapco stamped them wrong eh? I'd read that but not in the detail you have given ( thanks) and thought they had corrected the problem. At the way things are going with availability of kits AK builder may want to go the stretch and tool up for them without the under folder holes. Still , the ORF are only 40 beans+ tax across the counter and are an option. I'm going to talk to them Tuesday ( closed Mondays) and see if they will budge on the ones without the under folder holes.

you can't bend a thicker yugo flat in a regular jig. The center section of the jig is too wide and will throw the dimensions off on the flat when bent.
CNC Warrior makes a jig specifically for yugos, and they make an adapter kit for the regular jigs. They sell the adapted center piece for about $75.00 The universal jig to do both kinds runs $209.00 I used one of thier jigs to bend 4 flats and compared them to what I had left of stubs and they lined up. I have not built with them as of yet though. http://www.cncwarrior.com/comersus/s...?idCategory=64 |

I have a Yugo Jig, but it does not change the fact the Flats are Junk, the math was Way off, made for 1.25" ID when you go .040 narrower, the holes are to high, rails to high, Gap under trunnions etc Etc.. They Can be made to work, if you want a project and a 1/2 ass gun in the end. Until someone makes GOOD Proper flats, 100%'s are the best bet.

yeah ace, there is a lot of info on here, I have currently talked to a good friend of mine who is a class 2 mfg. and he has found some good flats, he has been building m70's for a while now, we are going to try to get some more from his source and resell them to help everybody out that has these "junk" flats, even considering selling some 100% flats as he has the proper jig for bending them, he custom made it so he wouldn't have the problems that everybody else is haveing, I will start a new thread if he can still get the flats, thanks everybody for all of the info.
