ok check this out. Had a friend drop this off as a gift. Laid off engineer who loves to make naval knot boards and whips. started with 8 strands of hemp and wove what he called an inuit 8 band weave with inlaid turqouise, two dog claws from a black bear and my priming gear for the flintlock. I always hang my primer around my neck as I once dribbled all the primer out of a pan, so this is what he did for next deer season, or maybe moose if I get lucky. He took the old primer and pan brush and pic and did this. Incredible.....It is held together behind your neck with a caribou foreleg hollowed out and a caribou hand drilled tine. the foreleg acts as one stop and the individual strands have to be backed out from the tyne. I'm telling him that screw engineering, this thing is a piece of art.

That kind of ingenuity and craftsmanship comes only once in a while otherwise. Nice job!

I am impressed...
I still "practice" the art of cracking bull whips.... I have 2 American style whips, 10 footer and 8 footer... I have a book on how to make them... Having a human to talk w/ concerning this would definitely be a benefiit. AKjm, would your engineer friend mind if I dropped a note to discuss this w/ him, whip making??? panzertruppe |

I love this stuff. Wonderful craftsmanship. I have a buddy thats a retired old school navy man. He enjoys wrapping our fixed blade knife handles when he's bored. Tell your friend now might be a good time to turn his craft into income. He's pretty damn good.
