I have been sitting here thinking about things in general, my life, where I stand and how I feel about this site and those who administrate and post here regularly.

I have called this site my home for the better part of two years now. I am not an extremely heavy poster and as my experience is as a user not a builder few of my posts have been directly on the topic of AK building. To be honest I would rather eat glass then carry a weapon I had built. My skill sets and interests do not stretch in that direction. I do however have strong opinions on many topics. These opinions are derived from years of experience and many hours of sitting down and thinking, reading and discussing with others the topics that interest me. I have little tolerance for those that have not taken the time to think through what they believe, and then want to try to force others to think the way they do. Obviously I believe my opinions to be the correct ones, or I wouldn’t hold them so dear. But I will listen to those who put forward valid, well reasoned arguments, and have had my opinions altered by those who do so.

In the time I have been here there have been a couple of occasions that I have left the site for some period of time. Each and every time the problem has been the same, a perceived unevenness of the moderation of the site. I am sure that it is a problem on every site out there. I have stated before that with out the very discourse that you are aiming to stamp out this site becomes a ghost town. Every time I have returned it has been because the posting was again interesting, largely due to a relaxing of the site moderation.

Get any group of diverse individuals together and there is bound to be friction. Add in that this site, by it subject nature, is prone to draw those with strong personalities and even more strongly held beliefs. Administering such a site is, I am sure, a pain in the ass.

Unfortunately for me, the apparent direction of the current head Mod is one of “I’m the Mod, so pack sand”. Not “these are the reasons for the action taken or not taken” but more “Cry me a river” and “ you’ve been warned”. While there are times and places that dictate such an attitude I do not count an internet site as one of them. I have had enough of that crap in my life, I damn sure don’t need or want it in my free time pursuits.

Combine the current moderation policy, the fact that I have settled on another platform and no longer own an AK of any type, the influx of anti Semitic rhetoric and hard corps leftist, and the total inability for the members to come together to defend our rights, I see no reason to curb my tongue in order to stay here.

I strongly disagree with DrJarhead on many topics, agree with him in others. But the offense that got him banned was not one against the board. Bobehead came trolling and got slapped for it immediately. +1 for the Doctor in my book. Bobehead and his kind need to be slapped down often and hard. A large part of this countries problems stem from people not slapping the likes of Bobehead down hard and fast enough.

No. What got DocJ a temp ban was his telling you like it is. And that shit doesn't fly in my book.

I also got a temp ban for telling a jackass that he was a jackass, in no uncertain terms.


Two Bit. It is apparent that you and Jen do not want my kind here. Well and good, as I would not care to participate on a site where the Mods have no real interest in the site subject matter or members. Nor am I interested in a site dominated by leftist bigots and anti-semites. And that most certainly seems to be the case here on the Akfiles at this time. Bad enough that they are here, but from my perspective they seem to have the support of the site ownership.

To many of the members here I wish Fair winds and Following seas. To others I say your day is coming, and I don’t think you’ll like it much…

And to what purpose does this open letter serve? Not bustin yer balls Mmckown, just honestly questioning. If youve been around here a while you'll realise that the levels on moderation varies from time to time, like cycles or the moon or what not. We all put up with it, and most of us get by just fine. So I have to post F### instead of the word, big deal, who cares. So a couple dudes are ANTI-SEMETIC!, Whoooo, big freakin deal, the mods usually give them the most crap and if not then the other members do. See basicly most of us active posters here are having a good time, sharing information, laughs, parts, comraderie, and generally a fun escape from our miserable daily humdrum lives. So, while Ive enjoyed most of your posts, if your going to leave then do. Its only your own loss.

We don't agree on much of anything, but you're a respectable man in a world of shit. Your views have a moderating effect all their own and you should persevere.

My views, like yours, are hard earned and completely valid (if unpopular). I don't fit the stereotypes most people resort too slinging in lieu of posing a logical argument. It is unAmerican to legislate away the freedoms of everyone else, because we feel scared or are comforted by the tens of thousands of laws that hinder our lives. Good men have been forced to live fractional lives because of the corrupt laws that now govern this land. Unconstitutional laws which should have NEVER been introduced, passed or ratified.

We need conflicting opinions, but among reasonable men. The cause needs you and as an American man, you have an obligation to help restore this nation to the prize (and pride) it once was.

Whether you do it here, or insist on landing elsewhere, be sure to stay the course and remain viable.

Hey McClown.....sorry mike, just kidding,,,,see, we've all been down that road of web site praddle exhaustion......I slunk off for a month or two but in two years, I can say I've had a wonderful time in a very well run place. There isn't a post in this thread I don't agree with so,,,,here's hoping you'll wander back in like Sjohnson did for a while and hopefully Mandy will as well.
These are tough times to be ditching the few people that you can feel free to speak out and know that you won't be beaten down for not having drunk the Obama coolaid.

This is a desire that is part and parcel to the core values of The AK Files, as values originally laid like a ship's keel to act as a foundational backbone for this board.

As far as the head Mod (Moi) being unfair, uneven or in any manner unfitting for the job, that is opinion. Each is entitled to one or more opinions. However, only one opinion counts. That would be the one of the board owner.

I am a very even handed and compassionate man. I put up with a lot from many peoples. What has been de rigeur on this board for the last two years is stark evidence of same. The jig is up. No longer will cyber passersby find the kind of raucous behaviour in the majority here. This forum is by and for responsible gun owners, Americans and their foriegn guests (not that a foriegn member is any less than "one of us"). It shall appear so even if I have to thin it down to nobody but a handful.

Dumping brass will be the only place that members can act like wild apes. The public can't see DB unless they register. You can do anything you want down there except post porn, make threats, post personal info or, most importantly, piss me or my fellow Mods off. If that last one bothers you, then you need to either leave now or hang out and see just what it takes to piss us off. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Above is a story that indicates the direction of our future and why this thread will become mute and irrelivent. What? do ask will private sector wage caps or "Maximum Wage" have to do with the AkFiles? How about this? Rush had a story last week and he named the Republican who wrote the artical and I can't remember his name but he sat in on Dem commities that are discussing the "Fairness Doctorine" reinstitution and he stated that the plan is to extend the "fairness" rules to TV and the interenet. That's right the internet and he explained that the rules will force you to be exposed to opposition content each time you open a new window meaning that every time you log on to or move to the next page here at the Files you'll have a "pop-up" filled with "anti-gun" rhetoric. Think not? Yes and it's coming sooner than yoiu think. This is the direction we are headed and fast. About the private sector wage caps, it's just the begining and soon they will be envolved in EVERY aspect of your life. You have begun to live a living hell. Oh and I forgot to mention the "Smart Grid" portion of the spending bill that will set aside $4.5 billion to develope the "Smart Grid". And what is the "smart Grid"? you ask. Well the smart grid will allow the gov to control every appliance in your home and then charge you accordingly for kilo watt hours used and the rates will differ during different times of the day and will also control the thermostat in your home and also will tax you accordingly for outdated and inefficent appliances, for those of us with "home shops" we are so totally screwed.

So what does all this have to do with this thread??? Everything. As you bicker about your little points of view the rest of us (all of us) get the big F--K.

The mods here cannot be everything to everyone.

You have the choice of trusting them to do the best they can or leaving. If you leave, then you have less influence in altering the course of the AK files.

Personally, I am disgusted with the obscenity that passes for dialog on this board, and would be far less lenient than the current mods are in cleaning up the filth.

I now rank the AK Forum on AR-15.com over the AK Files. Never anticipated that happening.
