Ak-74 front sight block on an AK-47?

Ok folks, I have a SA M-7 carbine. I was planning on threading the muzzle with a TAT myself, but after some consideration and feed back about the idea I decided not to. However I still want a threaded muzzle. Does any one know if a threaded fsb for a Bulgy AK-74 from Kvar would fit on the SA M-7 barrel. If the outer barrel dimentions are the same then it ought to work, so long as the muzzle it flush with the threaded shroud. The outer diameter of the barrel at the front sight block on my SA M-7 is @ 14.5 -15mm.

I don't see why not, the bulgarian 74 barrel looks about the same diameter as my AKM....I'm almost 99 percent sure that the various east block arsenals all have the same diameter of their barrels, regardless if it's a AKM or 74 barrel...... you will have to make the opening of the 74 break larger......remember the 74 break has a smaller hole to let 5.45 rounds pass, also the inside of these 74 breaks are hard chromed....so get a drill bit that is harden to be able to go through it.

I just measured the diameter of my bulgarian 74 barrel with a tape measure, and it's 14 mm diameter......so a 74 front sight should fit on AKM barrel, AKM barrels are suppose to be 14mm diameters......if you are measuring 14.5-15 it might be a very very tight fit, also be aware that the front sight pins for the 74 front sight is located on the bottom, not on the top like on the AKM, so you will have to drills holes holes there.

The barrel on my SA M-7 is 15mm between the gas chamber and the fsb, and 14mm at the muzzle. I fired off an email to Arsenal to see if they could lend an opinion. Someday I'll have bayo lugs and a removable flash cage on my AK. but not today.
