Any good lubricant such as Remoil or CLP is just fine, you could also use any synthetic motor oil, or axle grease or lube grease for long term storage!
However my all time favorit is Outers Choke Tube and Gun Lube, which a semi thick grease which i wipe on with a small patch and apply to rails and other heavy use areas with a Qtip, it is also great for metal protection since it does not run!
But any type of grease for metal is fine!

Since youre asking about cheap gun products, instead of spending $8.00 for a can of Gunscrubber, you can buy a can of carburetor cleaner for about $2.00 and works just as good! But both of these can actally melt certain types of plastic, so they came out with synthetic Gun scrubber! But all 3 of those can and will take the paint off from certain type of very expensive guns such as Arsenals and others which have an original military finish on them!
On these only use regular CLP not the scrubber version!
If you shoot corrosive ammo, the best thing is to shoot 5 rounds of non-corr. right afterwards and that gets rid of 90% of any corr. residue and then use hot soapy water or spray barrel with windex with ammonia and then clean really good !

A LIGHT amount of oil is just fine.

I amazes me the absurd amount of oil and grease most people slather on their firearms.

Strange, i never had a problem with it, but i now just remembered reading last month where someone has the same problem with rem-oil!
On what type of gun is this, but realize that on some guns, like a WASR or VZ58 or a Arsenal, where the magwell hs been opened,to take a high-cap, they will spray the inside with paint to look nice, but this paint will slowly flake off, and there isnt anything you can do about that happening, just mag. insertion will cause flakes to come off!

I did find the thread about Remoil and it is exactly what i tell you in my previous thread! I also have bought recently a Arsenal SLR 107 FR and it has original Military paint and in the manual its says, not to use anything but CLR! However
some folks who have them say the paint is flaking by itself when they get the guns, the only thing you can do is have the gun parked or use some cold-blue on it!

On NON painted guns synthetic trans fluid works very well.
Personally I don't feel AKs require much if any lube except a dab on bolt/extractor.
A dab of HEAVY grease on the underside of bolt carrier kills most of the friction between carrier and hammer.

I think SPARKMASTER 123 is wanting to know, what if anything he can do to keep the paint from flaking on the inside of receiver!
To which there isnt a solution unless a new park job or to cold-blue the inside!

Not hardly. Rem oil is lighter and doesn't smell as good. I prefer CLP for normal environs.

It does not deal with Heat all that well. HK had a directive out years ago when they were the Importer of Balistol not to use on the threads of the barrel and suppressor threads of the MP5SD as it cooked up like rock.

Alot of Deer Hunters here in PA Slather it on their Deer Rifles as it actually migrates with water from snow and rain and still provides good protection to wood and metal.

Hello Sparky! Wear and tear on any AK is normal, mainly on the mag. release,mag-well,rails and some internal parts and or bolt-carrier and charging handle, if it is also blued/parked!
A Wasr is phosphate over blue, and on all new ones the phos. is scratched all to hell! You can degrease the trouble-some parts and apply blue with a Q-tip which will help or have the gun parked and then Gunkoted, which runs around $250. anything will run over $150.
This is normal and the same happen even on ARs!
Best wishes, and keep us updated and if you want to know anything else, please just ask! Thanks, James

I have started using "Lubriplate 105" white lithum grease on the rails and bolt carrier. It is used for motor rebuilding to protect a new engine. Just a little one the finger tip or use a cotton swab. Put some in a pill bottle and put in my range bag. CLP for the smaler parts.

I agree Grunt. Excessive oil is the downfall of all weapons. I use CLP for all my weapons, but I go real light. Oil attracts dust and dirt, and could be the death of you in a shooting.

White Lithium turns into a sticky paste after awhile. Gov won't let it in our Ordnance shop as a lubricant on guns.

As a machinist/mechanic/machine repair guy/whatever over the years, white lith has been the bane of my existance. I hate that grease with a vengeance, because it got a load of press in the 60's as being a wonder-grease cure-all, new-age, whatever-bullshit... %#$@# ARGH! hehe... It collects dust and ebris then hardens up and actually does more damage than good. FAHK IT!

Gun Oil: K.I.S.S.

I've been using Mobil 1 for the past few years, and I like it a lot. If you really think about it, it is indeed high-tech stuff. I bought a few really nice needlepoint squeeze bottles from McMaster-Carr so that I can have it all around my shop when I need some. Low odor. Nice. No need to have the enemy smell your minty-fresh clean gun while you are sneeking up on his outpost before Dillon gets to da choppa.

THE BEST!

If you guy's have never used Slip-2000 you really need to try it! www.slip2000.com This is in my opinion the best lubricant I have ever used. A tiny 1 oz. bottle cost around $3.50. I have a bottle I bought 2 years ago and it is still half full, that is how little of the stuff it takes to run your weapons. On average I clean and lube 3 gun's per week.

For cleaning I use the homemade concoction called Ed's Red. Extremely cheap to make for the amount you get. I have 1/2 a gallon, the first I ever made, and will not have to mix anymore for years to come, But you have to store it in glass or metal containers. This in my opinion is the best CLR out there. But opinions are like....Well you know!
