Default I hate wasting....

Here is an offer for you.

I live in NC.

I have (or soon will have) several jigs for bending flats, including the plinker jig, flat bending jig with rail bender, long rivet riveter, front and rear trunnion holding clamps, spot welder with the ak tongs, 10 ton shop press, etc.

I will also soon have several jigs for a 1919a4 build.

Most of the jigs I have are either brand new or nearly new. I also have access to machine shop equipment, heat treat equipment, etc. NOTE The heat treat furnace was originally used for powder coating but to the best of my knowledge can be used for heat treating as well. It is certainly large enough.

I would love to find someone who could use these when I am done. Maybe trade a few ak builder flats in exchange for a few hours with my jigs?

Of course, YOU would have to do the building on your receiver and I would not help other than maybe to hold your beer for you.

The equipment would be in Charlotte NC and you would most definitely have to make an appointment and set up a time to be there... Once there, it wouldn't take long to bend a few flats and heat treat them.

What do you think? What would this be worth to you?

When I am done with all these jigs, my intention is to sell them, but I have a lot of kits so that might be a while.

no kits out there masek. at least not at a reasonable price. if like me, the kits put on the back burner require factory receivers unlike the Romanians and such. i think right now everyone is aquiring other items if they can and worrying about thier jobs. it's a generous offer that i'm sure someone will take you up on.

masek77, your tools, skills, and assistance are valuable and will be welcomed by others sooner or later. Don't take it personally that no one was in a position to jump on your offer immediately.

I'm a thousand miles away from you, I'm not likely to ever show up at your place. But your offer has me thinking maybe I and others should make the same offer to those in our own areas.

So here's mine: I have a flat bending jig I have made myself. It's currently being modified as I can find time. Bent one flat for a gun that isn't yet complete, and the receiver was off slightly. Also got a press, a spot welder with modified tongs for the lower rails, a jig I built for riveting the trigger guard, numerous handtools. I expect to have a shop building completed late winter/early spring. I am in NW Arkansas, the Fayetteville area--less than 100 miles from Tulsa, OK; Ft. Smith, AR; Joplin, MO; 120 mi from Springfield, MO; less than 200 mi. from Little Rock. PM me if you have an interest in getting some assistance with an AK build.

It might be a real good thing if others around the country made similar offers. Then we could become something more of a true network, rather than a bunch of nuts isolated except for gripe sessions on the internet.

Any other takers on this idea? If it gains strength, AKFiles would be the resource for a further step putting people in touch to help preserve the 2nd Amendment.

P.S. masek77, how 'bout retitling your thread to plainly say what it is about?
