Default Re-watched Red Dawn...

I watched this flick with my girlfriend's parents and my brother after I had bought it for $7.50 at the local Wally-world. I had forgotten how good the AK action is and how fascinating the first part of the movie was(when the paratroops just drop down on the field next to the high school). Everybody that watched it with me loved it. If you haven't seen it-rent it-it's a movie that's actually WORTH the rental fee. WOLVERINES!!!

I rewatched it again, I own it and shared it with my ex and a few of her girl friends (all conservatives). They found it interesting, we had a few what-if discussions and made fun of the actors for their different movie roles.

Default True 'Patriot' flick

http://www.movieprop.com/tvandmovie/reviews/reddawn.htm
I quote from the site,

"Those who know freedom best either die for its restoration, or live life dedicated to its continual preservation.

To many the movie represents an "urban myth," or a self delusional fantasy that inspires paranoi in the supposedly "civil citizens" of this "civil world." But to many the movie represents the ultimate human myth that we all want to believe in. That being that people care for each other, that things matter beyond life or death, and that some will dedicate their lives for such ideals. This would be the notion of the citizen soldier, the ultimate defender of everything from the ideals of Republic's; to the ideals of justice; to the ideals of the human soul."

oh yeah i just caught it on tv the other weekend. oh the memories. me and my brother used to watch the hell out of that movie when we were kids. then we'd go out and round up the neighbor kids and trudge through the woods for the rest of the day... but to look back on that movie now that i know what guns are what and so on it still stands up as a great movie. classic...

It wasn't a BAD movie. Was kinda hoakie but, it doesn't seem like there are a lot of these kind of stories. I read of an old movie about the chetniks, but I have yet to see it. I forget the name of it.

I don't think the average person understands what the common man is capable of. A WHOLE LOT can be achieved, if the will is there. So its kinda cool to see a movie dedicated to the guerrilla fighter. I kinda wish that there was MORE movies of this type. The movie kinda pays homage to these unsung warriors. These warriors exhist all over the world. Its not as if these people are conscripts, and forced to fight. They are regular people that take up arms to fight a GREATER force. Its not important WHAT they fight for, its that they DO fight. These people fight for what they think is right. wether they are right or not, is irrelivant. They deserve respect for what they voluntarilly endure. There is no logistical support, there is no quality medical services. These people expect NONE of that. Their options are only victory or death, and for that, they should be respected.

There are numerous examples of what these people can do. Cuba, China, Russia, and the US are all products of successfull revolutions. I think castro's initial assault on cuba consisted of around 80 men. Mao conquered china with a peasant army, and we defeated the british.

The word commando is derived from the boer war of 1899. "Kommando" was used to describe a boar fighting unit, and the word "Boer" is Afrikans for "Farmer". So its kinda funny to see that a word that is now sysnonymous with elite, was derived from a bunch of farmers.

It seems that few have respect for these fighters, and that is why this is a good movie. "Apocalypse Now" and "We were soldiers", seem to make small hints at this, but it seems that "Red Dawn" was the only one that was directly about it. despite how hoakie "Red Dawn" was, it was and still is, a unique story.

After seeing that "Bowling for Columbine" I doubt I would waste any more time on a Moore film. I would like to see that fahrenhype film though.

John Milius, the director is VERY pro-gun. Big departure from the typical Hollwierd Liberal. Great movie!
