The bottom of the receiver says Elk Ridge, TX. The gun store owner says its resold by RPG Arms, but actually made in Elk Ridge.
Barrel is by Mossberg according to IOI.

Are you sure it's not an Elk River Tool & Die receiver, used by RPG to build it?

It says on the side of the receiver, near the front:

RPG Arms
South Houston, TX

On the bottom of the receiver, near the front it says:

Elk Ridge
Houston, TX
Model ERTD

I'd say it is in all probability a very nice rifle. Thanks for the Info nalioth, I knew that with the reoganization of Global Trades it was going to be split up into a manufacturing business and a receiver making business but I had not heard yet what the manufacturing business was going to be.

I would still like to see a pic of the trunnion markings and if the rear sight is marked with a G, ie it was built on a Romy G kit.

I'll try to get that pic as soon as I can Judging from how it looks, the receiver looks very well made. I just got my shipment of Tapco 30 round mag and metal Bulgarian 30 round mag today, so I"ll see how it fits. The Bulgarian surplus 20 round mag that it came with fits perfectly with no wobble.

I'll have to figure out how to take off the hand grip..it looks like a hex nut.

I picked up my new AKM at IO on Friday afternoon. Not disappointed at all, see the new post I put up this morning giving the details.

Trunnion had no markings at all. It looks as if all markings have been milled off by IO.

OK, I finally went shooting today at the NRA range. Blew through 200 rounds. About 80 Hot Shot and the rest Winchester white box 7.62x39.

All I can say is WOW. It was pretty much dead on at 25 yards. I didn't even have to mess with any front sight adjustment at all.

I had 3 Tapco 30's, 1 Bulgarian 30, 1 Bulgarian 20, and 1 Bulgarian 40. All fed without any problems. I only had one issue with a Hot Shot that didn't clear the ejector completely so I had to pull it open after removing the mag. Other than that, my friends and I blew through 200 some rounds. One of my buddies served in the Bulgarian military and as he put it, slept with his AK-47 for 2 years. He loved the build quality of the IO and will be heading up to Dan's to pick up one soon.

This thing was pretty darn accurate using just the iron sights, I can't imagine adding an aftermarket Red Dot or Eotech to it. One thing I did notice was that the Galil handguard got very hot as some point. So I set it down and played with my friends Rock River AR-15 for a bit. The recoil wasn't too bad at all either. I heard so many stories about the recoil of the AK-47 and when I finally felt it for the first time, it was mildly surprised.

We'll probably go shooting again in a few weeks...I can't wait. The Ak-47 was such a hit among the 5 of us that went shooting that I think Dan might be getting a few more sales coming soon!
