Looking for your thoughts on the KOBRA sight. Accuracy, durability, usefulness, etc.
Doesn't sound like the AK is ever going to warrant a Leupold Mk4 but these little red dot sights seem rather inexpensive and might be just what I need for the AK. I’d like to hear what kinda set you have and what you think of it. Thanks, J

Kobras have a good reputation but they are very hard to find these days.

Berg is right, they are temporarily hard to find. Try to get the newest version, the switches are better protected. Tantal.Kalishnikov.guns.ru has some good info on the different types. I like mine, it is like having a laser almost. Best Regards Scott

I have one of the older AA battery models and think it's great. It's not in the same class as an Aimpoint, but then it doesn't cost near as much either. Very quick to use, but sits higher than I would like, you really need some kind of stock riser to get a proper cheek weld.

I have one with a weaver mount on the bottom. It is a great piece of work for the money, I think I paid $150 (2nd gen). It currently sits on my AR Carbine, perfect height no need to take up a funny cheek weld. I somehow just don't fit in with the AR-15.com crowd, seems to me that everyone over there has more invested in optics and gadgets than I have in firearms!
Go through Tantal, he will not do you wrong.

A great, durable product for the money. I shoot my SAR 2 better with it on, as I don't do as well with the iron sights on an AK.

The people I know that have it are sold on it. It's too expensive for me, but if you can afford it, go for it.

Next time Tantal gets em in, you better jump quick. I had a 1st Gen, then purchased a POSP.
Love them Russian products. I'm going to get a weaver mount Kobra when/if they return.

I have one. It looks right on top of my Camp Clone. It’s one of the first ones that takes the weird batteries. They don’t seem to last very long either. But it’s Ruskie and like I said it looks appropriate on top of an AK. Id try to get one of the ones that takes AA's if you can find one.
