Open public area for shootin' around Dallas/Ft.worth?

Hi all,
Just got to shoot with a couple friends in their private land, damn that was the funnnest shooting session I ever had, hip-bump,shoulder-bump, aimed rapid fire to a couple cheap 12-pack "Al-queda" sodas really makes for the day! The fact my girlfriend loved blasting the larger, water filled 2 liter bottles with my PSL made me even happier!

The only problem is the place mentioned is 2 hours driving from DFW area where I lived. Really can't afford to drive down there every once awhile according to current gas price. but I am already temptin' to do it again and its only 3 days after the trip XD. So politely asking,are there any unregulated(not an commercial range) places like that, open to public within max. 1 hour or so driving distance from DFW area? Any inout is greatly appreciated, Thank you!
