Default picture of AK on homepage?

When I type in www.akfiles.com it flashes a homepage for about two seconds before automatically transfering me to the forums. Everytime this happens I see a picture of a really nice looking AK with what seems like a rear sight base on the rear end right in front of the stock. I would be very interested in getting one of these if I knew where I could find one or how to attach it.

The Israeli's claim to have improved the shortcomings of the AK with the Galil, which if you ask me all they did was lenghten the sight radius and add some other features which would be worthless to me: bipod, bolt cutters, and a bottle opener; as if I wanted a beer while I was shooting.

I think if I added a longer sight radius to my AK it would be just as good as a Galil in my eyes, and ten times better looking. If anyone knows where to get one of these rear sight bases that sit right in front of the stock it would be much appreciated!

Yeah a Galil has a bottle opener on the bottom somewhere near the magwell. Also the bipod has a built in bolt/fence cutter. You unfold the bipod and it has a little slot for inserting a bolt or fencelink, maybe even barbed or razor wire. It also has a birdcage flash hider and longer sight radius. Other than that it is an AK. I guess no one knows about the extended rear sight base for an AK?

krinks have the same style of dustcover (and fsb/gb).

it wont fit on a std ak, as it is hinged in front and dosent just come off like a std ak.

the pg on it looks yugo.

its also in the upper left corner of the forums.

personally, i like the g3 wire cutter best

The AK on the home page was a custom build by one of the shops.

I think it is a Krebs design.

Not sure Krebs still makes that rear sight. Looks like they still make the front sight block. The Galil may have more "modern" sights but moving the front sight to the gas block negates any increase in sight radius. The Galil top cover is reinforced and is double thickness at the rear where it fits the receiver. Trying to get the missing AK sight to look good is not easy. People can get just as good with standard AK sights. All it takes is like anything else, practice.

no luck, all they have is a rail that connects to the existing rsb and the rear trunion. Unfortuneately that is not what I am looking for. Thanks for the help though!

Go to page 5 of AK accessories, there are a couple of AK covers with rear sights.

Products> AK Parts> AK accessories> page 5

Thank you so much. You did all that work of finding it for me. It is even a pretty good price. I am buying one ASAP. It is almost like the people of this forum are getting paid to do this, like it is a business or something!

IIRC, the bottle opener was added to the Galil bipod (Uzis have one too, on the folding stock) because soldiers were using their magazine lips as bottle openers, damaging them.

You can also weld an HK G3 sight base to a topcover and mount the Diopter sight on it.

I think if I weld an HK sight to the top cover it will be to flimsy. I also realized that a top cover with a sight will move to much and ruin my whole idea of a more accurate sighting system. I am going to replace the original sight leaf with one of those cool peep sight leafs. I saw it on krebs custom, here is the link to it http://www.krebscustom.com/PartsPage...kovParts.shtml. It is about halfway down the page. The peep sight allows the shooter to hit and aquire targets at a much farther range. I can't even see an 8 inch target at 100 yards with my existing sights. I can hit a 16 inch target at 200 yards with a peep sight though. Thanks for all the help!
