Well I am finally getting ready to build my Romak and I have a few questions.
1. I am getting a prebent reciever which is unhardened, should i harded the entire reciever or just the rivit holes? 2. Should I install a different scope rail instead of the original so that it will take the standard psop scopes? |

Wait, are you getting an AK receiver or the actual Romanian PSL (FRK/Dragunov) receiver?
You can't use an AK receiver for the ROMAK-3 kits. It's my understanding the ROMAK receivers are good to go, no hardening required. |

Building a Romak is just like building a AK... But i do not recommend doing a screw build, as these use a much more powerful round.. Use rivets ,,, screws are fine for AK's ... the only known issues with these builds is the scope rail.. the ones in the kits need some work so the scope will fit... and it has to be mounted exactly right
or the scope will be off by a mile at long range.... |

I builded a Romak 3 kit a while back. The reciever from the factory is good to go as is. I Screw build mine and after a couple of hundred rounds the screw are still tight. The scope rail is oversize and needs to be milled down. If you can build a AK you can build a Romak 3 it took me about fours hours to complete it. The hardest part was pressing in front trunion pin, I used my buddy 20 ton press to seat it in. I try using a hammer to seat the pin with no luck at all.

I just finished a kit that I got from Centerfires Systems this weekend. It came with a receiver. I riveted it and found the build very easy to do. The receiver comes with the trigger guard and rear trunion rivet work already done. The mag catch spring is a little tricky to get in and the above mentioned scope rail took a lot of work to get it down to size. I do not have a mill, so mine was done with a 60' triangle file. It took about 3 hours to get it filed to the correct size. I took her out on Sunday and got it sighted in after about 10 or 12 rounds. Mine is a little tight and needed a little work on the upper rails to get it to cycle itself properly, but I expected that. The one I have came with a different trigger set up than the RomakIII I bought from Century about two years ago. It had a standard looking semi trigger, but this one has a hammer that has a hole drilled in the center to lighten it a bit and a different looking trigger. It does not have a match grade pull or anything, but it is much better than the other one and better than a standard AK trigger. They are really neat rifles and are worth every penny they will cost you to build.
