Default My Milled MAK90 Spiker Conversion

I've finally finished my milled Typed 56 spiker clone conversion. Actually Matt of MY Guns Northwest did all the work, trimmed the tail and added the tangs and installed the GB and the spiker FSB. I just sourced out bits and pieces over the years and funded the project.

Always dream of owning one and here it is. I love the way it looks and love the fact that it's just a MAK90 with no value to anyone else but me so I'm going to continue shooting the shit out of her.

Thanks.

Yeah, Matt took care of that and added the tangs. Thought about going the Ironwood route for a while but I knew that the UF angle would eventually bother me plus IWD set up is by no means cheap. Matt did a beautiful job. He also added the slot for the rear sling loop. Very happy with my decision.

Yes, agreed. If I had one, that's the exact route I would go. She's a beauty! Enjoy shooting her.

Figure it's no Legend. Just a MAK-90. No box no oil bottle no pedigree. She's however, very much Chinese, through and through, lol

I'd so much love to do that, but would be an expensive proposition starting from "ground zero". Most milled MAK-90's I'm seeing for sale are hovering around $1k. Then there's all the conversion parts needed and in my case, a gunsmith to do it.

Your rifle is beautiful and I'm am extremely jealous.

My milled MAKs are the smoothest action AKs I've got. IMO, Chinese AKs are some of the bestest, highest quality cheap guns out there. Especially milled ones. I buy every one I can find if it's decent price.

Then I re-fang them, mount a bayonet, trad milled butt wood on a type2 receiver adapter, cleaning rod, etc. closest thing to a Polytech Legend a poor man can get.

Very nice, Opie! Even though I never liked spikers. Too hard to open cans or cut potatoes with it... She's a beaut!

Nice!

I have a milled mak90 that had the ugly svd style polymer stock on it. Looking for a Chinese under folder stock (yeah right) to put on it and make it a spiker too.

This is what I have been thinking about doing as well. Why pay the high price for a legend and feel guilty about shooting it when a milled Mak is the same thing without Polytech engraved in it. Great looking rifle.

Fantastic work Turbo. Might I ask approx price for this job?

Meh, I'd rather have yours than a Legend, I know it sounds crazy.

Legends have AKM barrels, Norinco milled AKs have heavier barrels.

Nice rifle! OP, where did you get the FSB and spiker? I have a stamped Poly that I'm thinking of adding the spiker to but the price of the parts has held me back thus far.

Very nice. I've been wanting to get this done but I hear the turn around time is very lengthy. How long did it take for you to get your rifle back?

They pop up occasionally on Files MP, eBay and GB. I see them go for between $200-$300. Poly Tech has the US made unit that goes for about $250.

I had two projects sent to Matt and both came back together complete after 4 months.
