I wanted to get some input and opinions of the NODAK SPUD receivers; I heard they are great receivers. They are very strict with their heat-treating process and QA.

ya'd be better off posting a thread "does anyone have anything negative to say about NoDakspuds" it would be the shortest thread in AK history with not a single reply
ya really can't get any better reciever in fact about 6 months ago I dismantled all but one of my AKs that were built on competitor recievers that WERE the best...... until Harlen hit the scene with his that is....... I swapped those Global trade and OOW recievers to a friend for 8x57 ammo

I used to bend all of mine, but a friend gave me one he ordered I've been hooked! But now I'll only use a flat on a non-matching kits! And so as the funds permit me to I'm going to replace all of the matching number ones I built from flats on mine! I never had anyone tell me any thing bad about them. I got a few more on the way. Thanks Harlan!

Yeah well they ain't been doin anything that takes machine work. If they can pound it and bend it okay. Even pour it into a mold okay.
Machine it? They are not even close to being in that kind of business. |

NDS receivers are second to none. Top of the line in my book. Speaking of Nodak receivers........that reminds me,....I still have to order one for an AMD65 build and another NDS-3 econo for a Romanian side-folder I have sitting here. The way I see it,...I better act now before it gets toooooo late in the game or I'll have to resort to doing another 80% blank (bent tube)or bending up a pre-stamped Flat on my homemade bending jig which I really don't want to unless the situation leads me there. I guess I just got too spoiled in the ease of kit assembly using Nodak Spud receivers. T.C. Ken in Pa.
ps. Patbuzzard said it all in the above post reply: Parts seem to just drop right in!..lol Ken |

What exactly is the difference between NoDak Spud LLC and DCI? I was under the impression that NoDak was an exclusive distributor for DCI built receivers. Are they two different companies, or one in the same?
Regardless, ALL the receivers I've purchased from NoDak are good as gold with customer service and fast shipping on in stock items as a bonus. |

This saturday i'll be picking up some NDS-3 receivers. I'll toss the top covers and selectors on them. If there anything like the older OOW receivers then it'll show. I'll try and take a pic of it if southern boy hasn't posted by then.
John, you mind posting a tutorial on this "easy" fix for a novice builder? I have not seen an easy fix. But if there is an easy fix then i'd rather do that than rebuild an AK or two on different receivers cause the old OOW's look bad! -myers |

I just grabbed a NoDakSpud Receiver off the shelf threw in a Rear Trunnion, Selector and Topcover at random a few mins ago and here is how precise the NoDak's come to you. Now with just a Very Small Amount Of Adjustment where indicated and that will be a perfect fit you must agree.
Ohio Ord's Receivers are not even close to what you get with a NoDakSpud period. Cometh The Hail

I think the discussion though was that the NDS-3's are not very precise. While I think everyone would agree that all the other models are just about amazing, southern boy had commented that the NDS-3's were not nearly as nice and that the selector gap was pretty bad.
All of the non-nds-3 receivers I have used are just about perfect. A little here and there, but with mass production there will always be a need for fitting. Do you happen to have an NDS-3 laying around? -myers |

I just got home from picking up (3) NDS-3 receivers from my FFL. $30.00 with the background check included. Happy Happy… From a guy that has not finished his first build from a flat, but close. This is going to be so much easier. I stuck a front trunnion in one and the holes are close but not a perfect mach I was a little disappointed, so I grabbed a different front trunnion and guess what same thing but different holes didn’t line up. So my thought is that the receivers are great butt the trunnions are all a little different. Rear trunnions are so close I think I could get the rivets in. I tried to set a rear trunnion in place and the selector and top cover and I think they are real close. Thanks John What a simple little tip. I’m sure they will fit great with that little mod if needed.
Overall I’m happy as a pig in you know what. |
