Default Riley Defense AK47 review

Ok everyone as a disclaimer, I am not affiliated with Riley Defense in any way and I am not receiving any form of compensation from them for the review I am doing. The rifle in the first part of this review was bought by a friend to ensure we didn't get a cherry picked ak. I will do my best to give you the most neutral review I can on this rifle. I was also offered a tour of their facility which will be done on Feb 23, 2017. With all that said let's get on with the review.

Out of the box, the rifle has a great finish. Zero blemishes and from what I see all rivets are well done. I didn't notice any mushrooming, loose, cracked, or gaps in them. Also there were no depressions in the frame from to much force on the rivets.
The sights were aligned straight and we will see if they come pre-zeroed at the range trip. The furniture it came with is nice plastic with a very soft recoil pad, even though a cleaning kit was not included the buttstock does have a hollow space for one, I cannot say the same for the wood furniture.
The action was smooth and didn't stick. I did however find one spot on the dust cover the hung down low enough for me to hang the charging handle on, however if I barely nudge the rifle the bolt would send home or if I wasn't intentionally trying to hang it up it wouldn't happen. I'll also inform the owners on my tour.
The trunnions both looked fine and how they should we will re-evaluate them after 1000 rounds are shot on the 5th of march.
The selector lever was light enough to manipulate with one finger and it was nice they include the krebs style selector so you could swipe the safety with one finger without breaking your grip.
Today we test fit 5 magazines only one gave me concern, we used a pmag, promag drum, the included tapco mag, Bakelite mag, and a cheap Korean drum that I wouldn't recommend. The other 4 had a decent fit some wobble but nothing unsafe or unusual for an ak. On range day we will also have a us palm mag, Romanian drum, surplus steel mag we may also dig up some other mags as well not sure.
The trigger was a standard tapco single hook trigger with a surprising pull weight between 4-4.5 lbs. you never really hit a wall with it either it just breaks, we spent a good 10 minutes dry firing to see how it felt and even though the trigger is quite nice it may get upgraded in the future.

All in all I'm optimistic for this rifle and for Riley Defense to be a success. It would be great to have a well made rifle domestically, but also that it can be done at a price most people can afford. I plan on videoing the interview and the range day I do work a full time job and a side job so I will do my best to get everything edited and on here and YouTube soon. If there is any questions you would like me to ask the owners of tests you would like to see on range day pm me as I am compiling a list.

I'm literally learning Photobucket right now for the purpose of posting pics on this forum. It's easy enough and free. Good luck.

Touché Ha Ha, I glanced at vipergts's thread a while back, then after I read yours, I saw this one pop up cracked open another and read away. I have all the imported AK's I really want and got tired of reading about people playing dress up and stroking their new SLR107R so these are at least good entertainment. Good Luck to you and The new OP!

Thanks.
I honestly have been lusting after a few imported rifles. Namely the VEPR. That will most likely be my next purchase unless something amazing presents itself.
I hope this Riley thing works out as well though. We'll see.

Photos have been added.
And I may be new to this forum but not new to firearms by any means, just trying to get into doing reviews and doing videos since an ak is my first review this forum seemed like a decent start.

Sad state of affairs when people buy commercial rifles blindly without proof of durability IMO.

I'm pretty sure all the people on the Files that have Riley Defense rifles currently, know that they are "testing" them.
Head-space gauges and common sense used regularly.

MAGA!!!!

Still I will try and give Riley the benefit of the doubt and so far the reviews here have not been bad....but only 1000 rounds so far or thereabouts.

The Riley Defense rifles are chugging along nicely we have 2960 rounds through our shop gun so let's give them a chance to prove themselves before talking down about them. Edison , Ford, Bell all started somewhere and their product proved to be solid and popular .

Well at almost 3k rounds that says something to me. I signed in the other day before your post here and was going to bite, but you were out of stock.

I think the one reviewer said it well, this is not meant to be a battle rifle. Then again, 3K rounds is nothing to sneeze at either. Any pictures or reviews?

Hate to pull up old threads, but I am curious as to how your, Atlantic, rifle is doing? Still putting lead down range with it? Round count? Issues?

We had approx 3800 rounds through the rifle and were happy with what we were seeing .No odd or excessive wear out of the norm. A Delaware based ffl that buys a lot of our demo and Blem units purchased the rifle & a few others.
