Ok, time to clear out some space in my bookshelves. I have many more that I will be selling over the next few months. I am not “profiting” from this or future sales; I’m only asking what I paid for them, or in most cases, less. All books with dj’s (dust jackets) are enclosed in Brodart archival mylar coverings. Please just post here if you’re interested in buying something. Just say “I’ll take #1,” or whatever it is that you want. Only email if you have a question about the books. Money orders or personal checks are fine. Add two bucks for each book shipped. Multiple book orders will probably get a shipping discount. I also have tons of Jane’s books, Volkswagen, and Porsche titles. Thanks for looking!
(1) AK 47: THE COMPLETE KALASHNIKOV OF ASSAULT RIFLES by Duncan Long 185 pages. 1988. Mint condition. This is a Paladin Press book. Chapters include “History of the Kalashnikov Rifles”, “Non-Soviet Variants”, “Kalashnikov Sniper Rifles”, “Semiautomatic Weapons and Light Machine Guns”, “Owning a Kalashnikov”, “Ammunition”, etc. Good basic information for the layman and decent pics/illustrations. Price: $5 **SOLD PENDING FUNDS** (2) WEAPONS AND TACTICS OF THE SOVIET ARMY by David C. Isby 1985. Hardcover with dj. 380 Pages. This is a Jane’s Publishing book. The initial chapters of this book focus on the tactical philosophies of the Soviets, and include chapters on “The Soviet Way of War”, “Order of Battle”, “The Offensive”, “The Defensive”, etc. The rest of the chapters deal with individual elements of the army. Chapters include “Tanks”, “APC’s”, “Artillery”, “NBC Weapons”, “Infantry Weapons”, Combat Support Vehicles”, etc. If you’ve seen any Jane’s books before, you know how utterly thorough they all are. Pictures and diagrams on practically every page. Cover price $34.95. My price: $18.00. **SOLD PENDING FUNDS** (3) BERETTA AUTOMATIC PISTOLS: THE COLLECTOR’S AND SHOOTER”S COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE by J. B. Wood 1985. 192 pgs. Hardcover w/many pics and illus. Chapters include “M. 1915 Pistol,” M. 1915/19 Pistol,” M. 1919 /318/418 Pistols,” M. 1923 Pistol,” “M. 1931, M. 1932 Pistols,” “M. 1934, Model 1935 Pistols,” “M. 948, M. 949 Pistols (1948),” “M. 950 Series Pistol (1950),” “M. 951, M. 952 Pistols (1951),” etc., all the way up through “M. 92 Series Pistol (1976)” and M. 20, M. 21A Pistols (1984/USA).” Also has an appendix listing Italian proof-dating). Cover price $19.95. My price $12. (4) BALLANTINE’S ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF THE VIOLENT CENTURY SERIES by various authors This is a set of SEVEN different softcover books from this EXTREMELY popular WWII series. These have been out of print for about 20 years now. You have probably seen these before in library collections or at dad/grandpa’s house and wished you could have your own (actually, two of them WERE my grandfather’s!). Although they are small in size, they are full of great info and pics. Of the vast number of titles they offered, I feel these were the best of them all. The titles are as follows: Genocide: The Jews in Europe 1939-1945, Waffen SS: The Asphalt Soldiers, SS and Gestapo: Rule by Terror (the top of the spine on this one is chipped), SS Regalia, Nazi Regalia, and The Raiders: Desert Strike Force (this one is on Commonwealth forces) and Gas (book on use of gas in WWI and WWII by Ian Hogg). I think all the titles are self-descriptive. Although these books have a relatively small publisher’s price, they are now trading at a premium due to their scarcity and high demand. For the set I am asking $39. (5) SHOTS IN THE DARK: TRUE CRIME PICTURES by Gail Buckland 2001. 160 pages. Softcover. From the inside cover, “A riveting collection of history’s most startling crime photographs and the stories behind them.” All of the classic crime/aftermath pics here, including serial murder victims, Sharon Tate, Lizzie Borden, Lindbergh baby, OJ aftermath, lynchings, executions, mob hits, assassins (Kennedy/Oswald autopsy pics). Also has some funny pics of “celebrity” mugshots including Hanoi Jane, Larry King, Bill Gates, and Frank Sinatra. Not for the faint-hearted. Cover price: $24.95. My price: $12. (6) TRAIN WRECKS: A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF ACCIDENTS ON THE MAIN LINE by Robert C. Reid 1973. 184 pages. Hardcover. Excellent condition. Photographs, illustrations, newspaper excerpts, and commentary on the most tragic train accidents in American history. You heavy lifters out there will gasp in wonder at how they ever up-righted these behemoths. Boiler explosions and resultant fires are also vividly portrayed. Cool book. Price: $15. Keep up the great work, Jen!
