Default PSA: Rear Converted 5.45x39 Saigas at Fleet Farm

Just a PSA for anyone who lives next to a Fleet Farm, some stores have rear converted 5.45x39 Saigas listed for $450. I know the Beaver Dam, WI store has some. I wish Fleet Farm shipped firearms..

This is what economists call a market "inefficiency" or mispricing. Yet, there it is.

Traditional economic theory would dictate that there is a reason for the low price such as undisclosed issues.

If not . . .

Someone get in there and get em!

Inventory on the shelf is money lost.. They have to move them.. Fleet Farm is probably not on the radar for most gun buyers in the area that are looking for something other than a shotgun or hunting rifle.

This.

Fleet Farm had the exact same thing happen with O-Pap's when they were dried up everywhere else. Fleet Farm would be wise to hire someone who actually has some internet & AK savvy. And for fucks sake start shipping!!!

I am going to venture to say even at this price they are still breaking even. They are just looking at the SKUs for the items and aging of inventory. So they put them on sale to clear them out.

I bet they might be interested in shipping if we upped it to $500 per unit shipped and made a guaranteed group buy. At $500 I prob would.

Oh boy I'm saving some money not living close to one of these outlets.

If I lived close to one offering these rifles I fear I'd be going deep for them, spending ahead of schedule.

Yep, and yep. The OPAP's hung around pretty cheap for a while too because of only selling in stores.

You're not alone. If I lived near one, I'd do it. You couldn't loose.

So who's the Wisconsin/Minnesota broker, lol?

Bought one 3 weeks ago at the $650........SOB!! Just to let you guys know, these all have the wrong BG installed. So there would be some additional $ and work to get them running 100%. Word on the street is that FF is being sold off to another company based out of NY and there is a high possibility of not re-stocking any of the "evil" Guns anymore. They were selling their Huldra (Adam Arms) uppers a month ago for $250.

Back to the Saiga's, their stock was down to about 20 total in all Twin Cities metro stores 2 months ago. That is why I bought one when I did.

I went to the Fleetfarm earlier today in Germantown, they had around 6 of them in stock. The guy in front of me was there buying 5 of them. I let my buddy pick up the last one. All The ones I looked at had the wrong bullet guide installed, But non the less at $450 it was a good deal. He will change the bullet guide.

Times like this I wish MN didn't require a permit to purchase otherwise I'd buy one today but I still need to renew my permit.

Fleet farm was just purchased by a private equity firm. I wonder if they are discontinuing all of their scary rifle offerings.

That is certainly what it seems they are doing. For people in the Midwest Fleet Farm has been kind of like home- or a father son bonding tradition that gets passed on, a piece of Americana. I am afraid we may be seeing the end of that-

That seems like it might be the case. Maybe they don't want to actually make any money from sales of 'salt rifles, so they're selling them at a break even or loss price.

Exactly. They were a big Century dealer and had lots of surplus rifles and ammo to choose from. I really miss the days pre Sandy when they had stacks of 7n6 cans for $150 and 54R for $70. Serbian crested Opaps were $570 when no one else in the country had any. It will be missed.

Gaddy - don't forget the 91/30s for $69.99-79.99 to go with your tin of 54r.

Here's a shot of the clearance case at the Mankato store. That Pap, even if complete junk, still has to be worth $349 ALL week long!!!

The Saiga is an RWC and the guide looks like the one in my WASR instead of my SGL-31. Could Magpul furniture be plug and play on one of these? I thought I'd read in another thread that a Zhukov fore-end could be used if one replaces the gas tube assembly and figured I could get all Magpul-ly on the whole thing. It did come with a Circle 21 30-rounder, buttstock cleaning kit and cleaning rod as well

The guy assisting me stated that Fleet Farm is going to offer new items from different manufacturers and track what sells where. He explained that one Fleet Farm may carry X and another Y - it won't be like it is now where they all have much of the same items. He also stated it was explained to him that many companies wanted to buy Mills Fleet Farm and "Old man" Mills grilled the prospective buying entities about maintaining what Mills' Fleet Farm meant to the region. I guess we'll see. Sorry to fly all off the tracks.

I made the trip to the Mason City, IA store yesterday afternoon. They had 5 left in stock.

They now have 3 left in stock.

Thanks for the tip!

Handguard removal? Just remove the screw in the bottom of the receiver and knock the handguard forward with a rubber/plastic hammer or is there more to it?

Will the rear plugs interfere with Magpul or standard stocks?

That picture is current with the prices ??? That's insanely good prices!!!!!
BTW No, you don't need to replace the gas tube to use the Zhukov.

The top piece is purely aesthetic and unnecessary, but if you REALLY want it, then yeah......new gas tube.
I have used the Magpul MOE (shorter) on SAIGA's with the original SAIGA gas tube.

Zhukov foreend also works flawless with saiga. Sweet deal you got!

I know this has been discussed before but does the bullet guide installed on these not work? What is the deal with them? Thanks.
