Default New WBP stock set

Hi all,
just got my Polish laminate stock set from AoA.
Overall, they look very nice. Well finished in oil, all the reinforcements are there,
But- I was surprised to notice the lack of the cleaning kit storage in the buttstock
I can make it work but, this crap with not giving full disclosure of sorts kinda pisses me off.
Having said that, for $99.00 for a new stock set is a great deal IMO. But not cutting an AK stock for a cleaning kit IS dumb as hell

The Random PG,and upper and lower HGs look fantastic and match the ones in my Polish armorers kit.

Dan

Dan, question
Are there holes in the stock where they mount to the receiver? or are they "virgin" with no holes...
tnx,mitch

Beautiful brand new Polish laminate furniture fits most military configured AKM's (Polish, Romanian, Russian, East German, & more). Unlike the cheap knockoffs this furniture is reinforced with metal pins same as the high end Polish Military production!

For a limited time we are including new original Radom production handguards and pistol grips. Once we run out the entire stock set will be all WBP furniture.

Due to the nature of laminate wood it is possible the color or pattern could vary slightly on the furniture. We do not offer exchanges, returns, or special requests with this product. This is brand new furniture that has never been assembled so some slight drilling for the stock screws and fitment will be required. The pistol grip screw/nut and stock screws are not included since you can typically reuse those parts from your existing AK rifle. If you require those parts we offer them for sale

well that's a major fail, so it's flat on the back just like the WASR stocks?

The info above does seem a bit misleading (bold, underlined) so I agree with Dan, r1fal.

As Most military ak wood buttstocks would have a cleaning kit hole and trap door butt plate. No?

You took it out of context however.
But they could/should have revealed the lack of cleaning kit inletting. It could be done with some drill work but not for everyone.,

The hand guards are surplus NOS, but the stock is newly made. From the looks of it, the plywood they used is cheaper grade birch with thicker layers of laminate than the original beech used in surplus stocks. In my opinion, the thicker laminate layers don't give it the same unique look the originals have. It actually looks like a cheap US made copy of the original.

I wonder if this buttstock and the american made wood stock can be drilled out to handle the spring and other metal parts? would it weaken the wood to be unstable if I drill out for cleaning kit? I noticed the Polish have pins while the Boyd's I got from AF does not have pins.

No reason not to drill them. I have drilled a Ironwood stock before for the cleaning kit. It takes a bit of lateral relief for the access plate etc. A milspec has two large holes for weight reduction. But only one is needed.

And the 2nd hole is for cleaning patches, a spare round or two, etc.

here is the trap door assembly.
http://www.apexgunparts.com/ak-buttp...trap-door.html

here is the spring
http://www.apexgunparts.com/ak-butts...il-spring.html

you just need drill, drill bits, wood chisels and patience.

Blue's Clues,

Their ads says "Unlike cheap knockoffs" how is that out of context?

I think it's misleading advertising and Yes they should've stated "Has No cleaning kit port in the buttplate or holes for such in the wood"

Why would the majority of customers Not think that they're buying a high quality reproduction of a mil-spec buttstock- which Should include the Same features, ie; a cleaning kit hole in the buttplate and such..

We don't see it the same is all, but I for one would be send I ng it back for a refund.

This is what you referred to in your post that was out of context.
"same as the high end Polish Military production!"

This is the rest of the sentence you didnt highlight
reinforced with metal pins same as the high end Polish Military production!

If anything a bit of trickery in advertizing and they should have mentioned the lack of holes..Now we need some enterprising young lad to mill out the pocket and holes for a small fee.

bingo^^^
But as noted, they should have noted to lack of inletting for the cleaning kit for those who care or unable to inlet it if desired.

it is not that hard, 1-2 hours of work with drill bits and wood chisel. you need to secure in a vise. just use an existing stock as a guide so you get the slope at the bottom correct so the kit goes in. mark our your cuts with a sharpie, use tape on the bits to mark you depth, dill multiple small holes, then clear our the cavity with chisel. you will need a 3/4 auger bit to drill the cavity for the kit.

FYI >>> The stocks ARE DRILLED FOR THE CLEANING KIT >>>however the trap door buttplate was not installed on the stock sets. If you take the butt plate off you will see they are set up for the trap door if you want it that way.

From Arms of America website:

AoA description:

"Stock is already drilled out with the 2 holes just like the original Military stock to accept the cleaning kit. All you simply need to do is purchase the butt plate with the trap door hole and spring w/ plate from us if you wish to store a cleaning kit in your stock!"
