How come these are all over $100 everywhere I look? I understand that they weren't imported in vast quantity BEFORE the AWB, but it's been 3 years now. Also, they're made of plastic... $100 for a $10 item... anyway, is there any place that has these at a more reasonable price?

Just watch the boards sometimes a member will sell one off. I think I picke mine up here for under $75. It will still be pricey, but not as bad.

Are you talking about 45rd RPK mags? You can get them for $75 from ORF, $100 new... but who cares.

I know that the 30s are cheap, I just kinda want a 45rd mag. It's like with my ak-47. 30 rds are great, but I like the 40s. $75 though? Ridiculous.

Interesting that ORF sells mags that aren't even legal in OH, as the last 9 rounds are worse than the first 31 in that state.

$75... hell no... not for PLASTIC. Myers you are correct. I bought 6 bulgarian mags from copes. 3 in black, 3 in brown. $30.

Somebody made their own 45 round mags out of two bakelite 30 rounders. It worked good.

I've got one of those, works pretty good. other than being painted black and having some aluminum tape over the seam, it's hard to tell the difference. $30 was a lot more affordable as well.

I know ORF was selling a 4 pak with the bag for $200 or so ....bout as cheap as you will get these. Me and my brother went in together a couple of times over the las 6mo on this deal....just couldnt swing the $200 in one pop by myself so it worked out well.

Once more, allow me to clear up this falsehood. In the State of Ohio, the ownership, possession, sales, repair, distribution of any capacity size magazine is legal under state law. There are some citys that forbid high capacity magazines (Tolego, Cinnci, ect).
Under Ohio State law, the USING of a magazine that is HOLDING more than 31 rounds of ammunition in a weapon places that weapon in the same catagory as a machinegun. ie, if your AK holds 31 rounds of ammo it is a machinegun under Ohio Law. So if your Beta C-Mags are next to your AR-15 you're fine. If your Beta C-Mag is in your AR-15 with more than 31 rounds loaded, you are in possession of a machinegun! Any question? CampyBob..Call me sometime! |

At the current price they are worthless to me. 30 rounds works. Oh and the trunk full of 5.45 drums

Darkmatter, when did you get that romanian grip?
Valmet_M76=When you mentioned somebody putting two 30rders together to make a larger mag, that made me wonder, have you guys seen those new 60rd box mags that are basically two 30rd box mags fused together side by side? There is a pic of one on tantals website on an AKSU. I will get the link. If anyone knows of someone who has the know-how with polymers and plastics to do this, we should get that done. That would be AWESOME. I doubt any of those mags will show up on this side of the atlantic, so why not. |

I paid $75 in California for a steel Galil mag durning the madness prior to enactment of the AWB.
Over time, they went to as low as $25. If they don't pass another law.... There is a good chance that...at some time...a whole bunch of these 45 round mags will come into the country and the prices will plummet. That is usually how it goes with surplus. I wouldn't buy any of the 45 round mags at today's prices. Too much money. I would wait for the market to bring better deals. Look at 5.45 x 39 ammo. There was very little in the country and the prices were high. Today? It's the cheapest ammo on the market. By far. After a while, 5.45 will probably get scarce and the price will go through the ceiling again. Mags or ammo...that's just how it goes with surplus. For me, 30 round mags work great. I might pick up a few 45 round mags @ $10-$12 (max) which is really all they are worth to me. I figure it's better to wait. It has proven to be a good strategy over the years. Maybe the prices will never go down. That's ok. I have plenty of 30's. And there will be always be plenty of other bargains around. I will take advantage of them with the money that I didn't blow on overpriced stuff. |

About a month or two ago, I sent an email to Century Arms asking them to import 40rnd mags in bulk and the response basically said that they'd see what they could do on their next trip over to eastern europe (I'm guessing to buy a whole factory load of surplus stuff). My bet is that the 45 round mags are going to start coming in soon.
