Again, not sure if this is the proper forum to ask, but I noticed one malf today at the range, a last round stove pipe, happenend only once, not sure if it's anything to worry 'bout just yet.
Did notice that the Wolf hollowpoint ammo had varying muzzleflash from shot to shot, maybe it was just a weak round? |

Apparently Wolf just throws a handful of powder at the case and sets the bullet on whatever gets in. A member who came from the world of competitive AR matches commented on the variation of powder in rounds he pulled. I don't know if this has been true all along, or if they have gotten sloppy with the quantity of ammo they are selling. I suspect that the US sport shooters use more ammo per year than the Soviet army did at it most prolific. I didn't see much of a problem with the Wolf ammo I bought, but I probably haven't bought any since 2001. I've got enough that it would have kept me till about 2006 before I ran out of the ammo I had bought by 2001. Now, the ammo will last much longer than I will. I think I had just started on the 1997 ammo in early 2002.
I wouldn't worry about a single malfunction, other than to note when and what it was for future reference. But if other ammo from the same case continues to give problems, you can verify it. The only bad AK ammo I ever has was some German that they had pulled the bullets on ans substituted lead-core bullets. They were old and/or had been stored improperly, and also had corrosive primers, though the boxes were conspicuously marked "NONCORROSIVE". Even Ed's Red (which will remove corrosive salts, but not neutralize them) didn't clean the barrel on one MAK-90, and it was damaged, chrome plating and all. (I must confess I shot a LOT of German plastic-core training ammo throgh that rifle also.) But nothing else has caused any problems. I shot mostly "commercial" production, though, not surplus, except for the plastic-core ammo. I did have a round of Yugo bounce back into the chamber once, but I'm sure that was a fluke. It was one out of a 1440 round case.

Got it, I've shot many of cases of Wolf in the past, mostly 9mm and 45acp, and note the same, varying charges but never actually had any problems with it. I'll write it off till another failure occurs.
Appreciate your responses to all my posts, Your a great help Packrat .
