Default california to ban assault knives

knives will come under tough new controls in aprill as the State Government cracks down on violence.

Anyone with a knife in their home will have three options: sell it to a licensed dealer, hand it in to police, or apply to police for permission to keep it as a collector.

Those seeking permission to keep a knife will face tough rules on storage to ensure knifes do not fall into the wrong hands.

The move to toughen laws on knifes follows a series of violent incidents involving the weapons, including a gang fight in the LA Coliseum last week in which a man's hand was cut.

The new regulations define a knife as "a cutting or thrusting weapon with a long blade, a hilt, and one or two sharp edges" but do not specify length. knifes are currently on a list of controlled weapons, along with machetes and and razors and other implements that have a legitimate use.

Under the new rules, knives will be shifted to a list of prohibited weapons, such as ninja stars and nunchukkas.

Police Minister Andre Haermeyer said yesterday anyone who illegally owned a knife, would face fines of up to $12,000 or six months' jail. The maximum penalty for having a "controlled weapon" is $10000 and ten years jail.

In places where gun laws have disarmed citizens, a lot of robbers have apparently gone to machetes: easy to come by, legal to carry in a backpack or duffle bag, and frightening. They also work as a useful tool for breaking into places, opening drawers and door with furniture locks, etc. Criminals don't have to carry guns anymore--they're safe from armed citizens because there aren't any.

No, SUVs are necessary for the Rich and Famous, they can't ban them. Maybe Assault Pickups?

actually suv's are going to be regulated in ca and thats no april fool.they use to much gas and they destroy anything they hit.government wants to regulate size and weight.maybe its not a bad idea here.more then half the suv drivers are tiny little soccer moms who cant drive the damed things.they can hardly seewhen their behemoth overgrown status symbol suburbun.matter a fact i was riding my harley and nearly ran off the road and killed by some lady in a lifted suburbun about a year agoi caught up to her two blocks down and confronted her politely she realized what shed done and started crying and saying she never saw me.i politely asked her to be carefull and keep an eye out for motorcycles.maybe we need a special liscence for theese veichles.i dont know just venting.im getting the fuck out of here real soon.california is beautiful but the people and government here are seriously fucked up.gona retire to my cabin in wikieup,AZ.
