Default Remington M24 Rebuild

Even since getting into military firearm collecting I have wanted an M24, I like sniper rifles . Well I found out that Remington Military was getting the kits back from the Army minus the barreled receiver and building rifles out of them as selling them so I had to make an order. I contacted Remington today and my rifle is shipping out tomorrow. Ill post pictures when I get it.

It is a little pricey at $3500, and they are only selling to active duty military right now. Here is the website if anyone is interested.

If you don't have a barreled receiver, how the f**k do you build a rifle?

Remington is making new M24 barreled receivers and putting them with the kits. Here are some pictures from one received by a guy over on snipers hide last year.

Meh not really in this case. HK won't sell an mp7 to anyone including active mil.

Apparently the M24 ships with enough "Sniper Barbie" accessories to send any mall ninja to the hospital with a life-threatening priapism . .

Huh, wrong crowd I guess. I didn't know that a scope, bipod, and deployment kit qualified as mall ninja accessories.

What is the piece in the 2nd photo about 1# o'clock (#9), that looks like 6 sight reticles/apertures all connected on breakaway tabs?

I don't see any Barbie gear in there.

Not a whole lot of difference from my Mil-Spec w/5R barrel . All the deployment kit
trinkets are nice but who shoots iron sights ?

Um, the M24 is definitely not the same thing as a Rem700. They take a 700 action, bore it out, true it and usually replace the bolt with a PTG. They also use a match grade heavy contour barrel. The barreled action is then glass bedded in the stock. Should be around 3/4 to 1/2 MOA when it's done. You're on the wrong base for that though. You should be doing an M40 build. Sweet stick. Good luck with it.

Fuck remington. You could have built a sweet 700 without a single remington part that would have been more accurate, for less money.

Surgeon Action
Krieger barrel
Badger Ordernance bottom metal
McMillan stock
Timney Trigger

That should all be around $2,000-$2,500. Add glass and you still have a better rifle for around the same price.

I have had a few rifles built and none were that cheap. The parts you list alone totals over $2700, mostly because surgeon no longer makes the RSR. And you would have to build it yourself. To have a rifle of the specs you list built by GAP would be well over $4000. And that's all without scope, bipod, case, etc. I did not buy it because I though it was the best rifle out there, I bought it because it is an M24 .

Kiesler's Police Supply used to sell original Rem M24 rifles. They were overruns from the contract. This was a while ago.

And when you add just the scope, rings, and base it pushes it to over $5000 .

The M24 came in today and I got a chance to pick it up. I am very happy with the purchase. The tan will go well with my FDE SCAR's .
