Default Hungarian AK63D kits

I see Apex listed a 'Hungarian AK63D' with a note that these are export versions from the balkins.

https://www.apexgunparts.com/product...oducts_id/3486

Do these take standard AKM barrels? (I'm assuming so, but you never know)

Does anyone make a flat or reciever with the correct opening for the underfolder (ie, does anyone know if the rivet pattern and opening is the same as a Polish or Romanian underfolder?)

Have these been brought in before? I don't think I've never seen one.

A bit expensive for my tastes, but it's something I don't already have multiples of...

These look like the Hungarian AMMS's! I can't tell enough from the pictures on APEX site to be positive! The NDS-1 should fit the kit as Harlan took his specs off the Hungarian guns to start with! The gas tube looks shorter ( I may be wrong here) than standard, so that might be a problem with a barrel that has a predrilled gas port! A romy barrel may fit with little mods! Some body else with a better eye may divulge more info later!

Copes had very limited import number of AK63D 7 or 8 years ago.., with barrels of course.
Standard AKM configuration on a AK63D (AMMS). Srandard barrel config etc. Those are/were pretty scarce berrelled kits from back in the day.
They have several unique characteristics that are not easily cloned. Handguards, handguard retainer, rear sight ladder etc., slab components etc. Not cheap but if you want an uncommon AKM type the AK63D is one.

The underfolder from Nodak would work.

AK builder used to have flats for the AMMS, maybe with kits showing up again he'll do another run.

The rear trunnoon pattern is close enough to use a polish flat. You will need to elongate the holes a bit but nothing that you cannot still dimple for the swell necks. The rivet head will cover any egging of the holes need to make it fit. You will also need to clean up the holes for the stock pivot. But again very slightly and not a big deal.

That's what I remember also! When Cope's offered the AMMS prebuy, 4 kits were reserved for the princely sun of $1K. When they came it, they were as described with original barrels. all matching numbers & some in excellant shape! They built up well and live in retirement in the Hungarian/Yugoslavian home for retired AK's!

Dang I knew I shouldnt have visited this site today! Now I have a kit on the way. I have an extra romy barrel that needs a home so an Hungarian folder will work nicely.

I dont know the exact name of the fixed stock variant, but if you used a fixed stock would this make the same rifle?

I ordered one of these kits too! What is the original finish on Hungarians supposed to be?

So hard not to pull the trigger on atleast one. Was really wanting to branch out and build up another platform but these are a good example of a kit that will quickly go the way of the dodo.

Thats it I'm going to sell some mags tonight and hopefully they still have em instock.

I dunno only the bolt and carrier match, yes rare, super desireable.... the mismatched parts are what has got me not handing my cc number over. Why can't they keep these kits together the recent egyptian kits were demilled so nicely.

The metal on the AMD-65's & AKM63's that I got had a satin black paint on them.

Very cool kit, I didn't know the Hungarians made an underfolder AK.

Have you built one, AKBLUE?

Years ago CFS was selling Hungarian full stock rifles w/ barrels for $179.95! They were supposedly Hungarian Police turn ins! The one I got was in very good shape & was built up on an NDS-1 matching serial # to the gun parts! Those were the days!

so here I was whineing about how they were kind of expensive and not matching, and they sell out within what 24 hours? luckily I came to my senses and ordred just in time. for those of you that still want one I would call in monday am. They hold a few kits back to not oversell and for spare parts in case any parts or missing so you may still be able to get one.

It's been ages since anything Hungarian has surfaced.

IMO these were a good buy. It's too bad they don't have more of them...and I wonder if here on out it will be little bits here and there released rather than a steady supply.
