Default Rifle Camo

Anyone else camo there rifle?
I live in a heavily wooded area and have no choice but to bug in so I am looking for any advantage in a SHTF scenario.
I'm not crazy about the look but its growing on me.
Besides I could put a bright orange muzzle brake on and it would look like a walmart toy...

Default Looks great!

Now you need to work on gear for the other two seasons, white winter, and brown spring/fall.

there are a dozen threads and 100 photos on the subject already. The AKFiles search function sucks. Use google with AK Files as a parameter.

here's the most recent.

Winter is not hard to work with.
Im in really dense foliage. I think the woodland camo will be ok.

I'm considering a camo job on my Maadi build. My SHTF "critter gitter" .22 Marlin turned out pretty good. I did a Krylon job with a base coat of OD, then covered it with mesh and did a top coat of light green, tan, and a touch of black. Looks pretty redneck, and for the Maadi I would probably want to be a little more artistic about it. But if you're really concerned with stealth, even a crude camo job can do wonders.

buy four gullian suits,....camo summer,..fall color browns,...snow white/with black,....and night one most important one cause thats the only time you'll be able to "move" or go see whats happening....they all have rilfe wraps.

Out of all the camoflage patterns, I like Gunplumber's sponge technique the best. The woodland camo isn't bad though.

the camo effect, and paint pattern look really nice. But dear god that makes an AK ugly. I understand its a prep gun for SHTF, but i support MR-AK-47 with the idea of wrapping. makes one rifle more versatile for more situations.

Id rather use camo netting for gun camo. Easier to switch seasons.

Here's another idea that I havent yet seen anyone use.....

You can also use cohesive Vet wraps (for horses legs, etc)
My local Tractor Supply store has 4" wide rolls in woodland green brown & black, and a white & black zebra pattern that I'd like to try for a winter look, as well as a leopard pattern of light sand with brownish spots that might be interesting.

You can always just get the solid colors like white and also the tan/light brown color like ace bandages that medical people use would be a good base color as well.

You can use it to wrap over twigs, foliage, etc because its stretchy and sticks to itself without being difficult or messy to remove and/or you could spray colors over top it.

That way you can change you camo seasonally or to the AO

Cheers
Harv

question for you guys do any of you guys have a women in the house? can you have them like sew like a cover for all the rifles this way you could change different camos for different seasons.

not the whole gun, just the body parts minus the barrel areas and magazine area. this way should cover most of the weapon . use old camo clothing that is no longer wanted etc..

Started doing that at least 20 years ago ....turkey season ......
i'd spray a basecoat of one ,maybe two colors [sometimes], then take the other colors,[3 or 4 color job] and get leaves, sticks, branches, etc and lay them on ,or hold them right next to the piece & sprayit, then take black & do it againcame out great
Snafu yours looks great, frogman, Kmanator great too,
that "sponge job is pretty neat too!

I got some DURA-coat colors, patterns, came w/airbrushes, plus my Wife had given me BADGER airbrush before that
So I'm going to try that out ,got the VN Tiger Stripe pattern,

Camo -ing the gun works.....if it fools turky eyes ,it'll fool any others

I have sprayed duracoat and cerakote the last I like more but boy always have your mask on its the worst I have worked with to date. I learned quite a lot and to do the best job you must take apart any fire arm your working on down in as many parts as you can. Then bead blast Brownells had a silver oxide that worked nice if there was not much pitting. I have worked stuff so bad I had to sand blast. Then degrease try and not get any grease from hands or other and spray what you like. I have did some real nice tiger stripes .And mixed custom sniper greens make a great feeling to have a 300 mag Rem700 come out and looks great. I my self like to cure for 30 days if I can as I do not have a oven it just make the clear coat if you used one much harder.

My redneck job like you were describing. It was pretty easy.

We used to use a kind of fabric tape that was 2" wide and came in a dull green or brown, to break up the linear "blackness" of our M-16's. Uncle Sam supplied it. Gotta be something like that now...
