Default Return of the AK54 the BHAK54

While We've been stuck waiting on some stupid screws now to finish our VEPR stocks and get them out the door, our R&D shop has been hard at work on the short strokes and flash hider/FSB (these are the only things holding back the BHA54s) So not wanting to sit Idly, We had to do something.

Seeing all the crap about an AWB swirling, and many retailers turning tail and giving up on guns and "Assault Rifles" we decided the best thing we can do is use what we have and our custom shop to build the scariest gun possible before the ban.

We don't have a huge number of kits to build these available, but we will do whatever we can to get every single carbine we can into the hands of real proud Americans.

These will not slow the work we are doing to fulfill our current orders or slow the R&D center. Once current projects are ready those will get shipping priority over these.

Our price on these is going to be $1250 to AKfiles members 1350 to anyone else. Dealers please feel free to contact me about ordering stock for your stores as we all need to work together to get these out to consumers before the regime bans them.

Right now we have 1 complete and plan on a rate of between 1 and 3 a day by end of next week.

For 1450 we will have a wood/premium version available soon. The wood ones will take longer to ship as we would have to order the wood from outside sources.

BEHOLD the BHAK54
  • 16" threaded Barrels
  • Bayonet Lug
  • Cerakoted Finish
  • 922r Compliant
  • 1 mag with each Carbine
  • Accepts AK furniture

We use PSL parts kits and custom barrels from a shop in Oregon (Jerry knows the name of the company I cannot remember for the life of me).

Quick update on our long overdue Vepr furniture...the two lower forearms you see below are for the Vepr and PSL. The one on the left that has the hole in the bottom and front with the round cutout to surround the barrel is the Vepr's. The screw that goes up from the bottom utilizes the same mounting hole as for the original wood lower forearm. This is an imposable screw to buy so we make it ourselves, which has been the screw delay Cody has talked about. You can see the upper and lower Vepr forearms we manufacture require custom brackets all the way around in order to be secured to the gun and look correct, which you will see in the last two pictures. The Vepr trunnion adapters that are now being CNC machined are coming along and we plan to get these back ordered stocks and forearms out shortly. We are absolutely buried right now and moving as fast as we can so keep in contact with Cody or Steve as to when this will happen.

*edit* found a blank that would work mark, it's a lothar walther blank.

Would you want PSL length or AK length gas system ?

We're using Nodak spud receivers for the PSL, I know TGI sells cugir receivers on their website for a bit under 200.

b2b,
Not sure on the exact dimensions, we had talked about taking down the port size a bit. Jerry will know but he's in Washington right now getting parts/machinery.

We'll be making this till a ban goes through or we run out of parts, as it sits we have 170 or so left to be claimed, built and loved.

A couple questions:

#1. Chrome-lined barrels?
#2. How much extra would a heavy barrel 20" cost?
#3. I assume they would be function-tested before shipping?
#4. Any possibility of a down-payment to hold one until the end of january? I know I can't get together that much until then.....

#1 non chrome lined, button rifled
#2 a heavy barrel would be quite a bit of work (would require a new gas block, and retainers.) The extras would take a while to get together and be significantly more expensive.
#3 Every rifle will be function tested and cleaned before shipping.

Best option with what your looking for would be to hold off buying one of these and then at the end of January get a BHA54s which is very close to what your looking for, Or once those are in full production we could build you one of these with the BHA54s barrel profile.

Hmm. the BHA54's will be similarly priced? And take PSL mags? (sorry, I'm in the dark. I just got time to skim alotta differant places )

Yeah, I think I'll wait My one gripe with the PSL's was the skinny barrel, and I got AK's for 16" barrels. Definately looking forward to your next release though

What you're seeing in the box are NoDak Spud receivers, as there's not enough left of the Cugir ones to do anything with after being demilled other than sell them as scrap metal.

We bought these out of TGI's inventory when they stopped building PSLs. They are brand new and have been sitting a while, which is why they have crud on them. When we build guns they are media blasted with aluminum oxide before we ceramic coat with Cerakote and bake them, so they will clean up brand new again with a better finish than what they had when NoDak Spud made them.

Just a quick update...all back ordered product will be out the door this month!!! The following images are of the new barrel press we're fabricating to go into our Halsey, OR custom shop to build BHAK54s and the BHA54s. Our 1st barrel press located in our Philomath, OR facility, which you can read about in this link http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showpo...2&postcount=45 was built to insert 16" barrels into the HK91, CETME and AK74, which we made by the 1,000s at a rate of about 250 per shift per day. That operation started out as an outgrowth of our sister company, "Confederated Armor Systems, Inc.", which you can read about beginning with this link http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showpo...5&postcount=43 and then continue on this one http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showpo...7&postcount=44. We got a contract to manufacture bodies for the MRAP shortly after 9/11 on Swan Island in the Portland, OR area. They are still produced there, which you can see in this link http://www.bhaiblog.com/about-us/ where the gal is standing next to one in the 4th picture from the top. The 300K sq ft Swan Island facility can be seen in the 7th picture down in the "About Us " section. These bodies are shipped out by rail car to OSHKOSH Truck where they are married to a rolling chassis and then sent immediately in theater to Afghanistan. With that conflict winding down all our attention is focused on BHA, Inc. (DBA) Black Horse Arsenal. This new barrel press will be able to produce in the same volumes as our old one, but is designed to also handle up to 27" barrels and will be operational in another week when we start producing BHAK54s followed by the BHA54s. After that production begins we will start rolling out the BHA54m in the spring, which is our SVD recreation that is an exact milled receiver duplicate of the original with 100% interchangeable parts. This weapon is totally different from a Kalashnikov platform like the PSL and does not use this press as the barrel threads into the receiver. We think 2013 is going to be huge...thanks for all your support!!!

This insures that you don't bend the barrel, and because it grabs the barrel so you can move it both in and out by thousands of an inch you can do the head spacing at this work station as well in one complete step in a relative short period of time.

The PSL parts kits we bought do not have a hole in the lower forearm retaining brackets. We did get the cleaning rods, so we will drill the hole in production and ship them with the guns.

I did that by drilling the handguard retainer and also used a AK74FSB with rod retainer.

But as phat69 noted a PSL FSB does not have a cleaning rod retainer slot. The cleaning rod will launch out on the first shot. Need to weld or slver solder a rode holder to the FSB underside.

how much is the BHA54m (your SVD) going to cost once you get it into production? and it will come with a 24inch barrel?

I want a SVD or a NDM-86 like no other, but i just dont have the bank roll for a 4g+ rifle. as long as its a reasonable price and looks/ fuctions the same. count me as a 100% buyer

Or I might just have to have you guys do a custom psl build for me. I just have some questions on price.
