Default Cannot get the slant brake off!

I have a yugo m70 parts kit. I know you got to push the pin down and then unscrew the flash hider off. Mine is stuck, no luck getting it off! any ideas?

Are you turning it in the right direction?

Okay guys this thing is pissing me off!

I tried turning it as a left handed thread (basically like tightening normal threads)...and still nothing. I dont want to mess anything up..anyone have any other suggestions...The pin that holds it is bottomed out and does not move, maybe its putting pressure and not allowing it to be turned?

Take a small flat head screw driver hold the pin down, than at the same time try turning the flash. If that doesn't work try some WD40 to loosen things up.

I had one stuck on a gun I bought from an on-line auction. Tried everything - penetrating oil, Kroil, torch. No dice. Had to send it to an AK smith. He got it off by cutting it into pieces. Corrosion from years of firing corrosive ammo and never removing the brake to clean the threads.

Had to rethread and re-crown the muzzle. Hopefully, yours will not put up that much of a fight. Try soaking overnight in penetrating oil. If you don't care about gouging up the brake, put a pipe wrench or channel locks on that sucker. You can buy a new brake cheap...

Wrap 5-6 wraps of tape on the break soak it in oil over night before that take a screw driver hold the pin down put some visegrips or a pipe wrench and tug away. The tape should keep u from getting it to messed up.

If you do heat it up, keep the barrel pointed down. If there is silver solder or some other adhesive in there, if the heat breaks it down, you don't want it to run down the barrel, cool and harden !!

Also, if you have been soaking in various oils and lubricants, it will make a lot of smoke as that stuff burns. Then the burnt residue is working against you. If you try heat, be ready to put the torque on it while its still hot.

Thanks guys - I brought home my first AK clone yesterday (WASR-10 w/ 3 different serial numbers) and darn it if the slant brake was not frozen solid! The over night Kroil, torch & channel locks did the trick! The brake is now a bit chewed up, but the beauty of this rifle is that I really don't care. It's now spotless & lubed inside, but outside she's no looker- which I like very much! - Plywood stocks and all.

Something else you might want to check is for a small spot weld. My AK had a muzzle nut on the end of the threads, that was spot welded, so before getting it off, I dremeled the spot weld carefully and it came right off after that.
