Default SLR-105 vs SAR 5.45x39mm (ban model)

Friend was looking into getting some semi automatic gun, lo and behold I convinced him to go with the ak platform, but he didn't want the normal ak round, so eventually we arrived at a nice SLR-105. He was looking at a SAR in the same caliber for 50 bucks less. Just curious as to whether my intel on SAR/SLR's are right? I heard SLR's are a good chunk of quality over SAR's (which are really close to WASR's quality wise)?

Thanks in advance.

The SLR is better quality. It has the large bolt lugs like the Russian 5.45's.The gas block and sights are straight and the barrel is thicker and better quality. The Romanian 5.45's have small bolt lugs, same size as 7.62 AK's..The barrels are skinny with poor quality bores and chrome. The gas block and sights are often crooked. Most of the Bulgarian parts will interchange with Russian 5.45 rifles(East German and Polish too). Many Romanian parts are unique. The Bulgarian barrel at the trunnion is 22mm like the Russians. The Romanian barrel is 23mm at the trunnion, doesn't match other 5.45 and has a unique bolt.

The Bulgarian barrel is .575 inches thick at the front sight. The Romanian barrel is .517 inches at the front sight.
