Default Remember SURGE soda? (I just drank a can that expired in 2000)

I do! I just drank a can of it that expired on September 11, 2000. That's almost 12 years old!

It tasted great, and had a pretty decent amount of carbonation left.

After Coke discoutinued Vault (Surge 2.0), a lot of people have been petitioning for Coke to bring back Surge. It has been off of store shelves since 2001 or so, and was released in the US in 1997. It was tested in Norway in 1996, and did so well it remains there to this day! I imported a few bottles of the Norway "Urge" and it tasted just like Vault but had more of a tang taste to it, and used real sugar.

Mountain Dew "Throwback" is good when I need caffeine and HFCS, but it's just not Surge. Good stuff bro.

Try Ski. It's hard to get outside of Western Kentucky, though. Might be able to order it online somehow?

Yellow 5 will shrink your penis. Anyone remember that from about the same time as Surge?

I don't, but there are many, many stories of why Surge was discontinued. Some are hilarious. I've heard it made people too hyper, it would cause your penis to shrink, it killed someone, etc.

The truth is after the initial release the popularity fell and it was then discontinued.

Sounds decent for 12-yr old soda.

I do remember that stuff, just another flavor that was dropped.

I used to really like Mt. Dew Live Wire, myself; but have sworn off sugar, which obviously means no more regular soda. I think they should make a diet version.. regular diet dew ain't bad.

I just ate a 13 yr old chocolate bar, Hersheys W/almonds. Bar was kind of dry but tasted fine. Good to see stuff from more than a decade ago still good to go.

Even now, when I need to push to get work done, out comes the Mountain Dew.

For years, I lived on Diet Coke - drank it by the gallon each day. Interestingly enough, I literally developed a food allergy to Aspartame. If I drink I Diet Coke or have food with Aspartame in it now, my head gets stuffy for a while. So, I tend to stick to drinks with sugar ... which means calories ... which means I don't drink as much, which is probably a good thing all around. I do drink quite a bit of coffee in the morning (4-6 cups) and then lots of water typically.

Haha, I wish. I bought 5 together on eBay 5-6 years ago when I was early in high school. All but one would develop micro leaks (they would still retain the seal) so I'd open and drink them when that happened.

Full ones sell on eBay for around $30 with the 2nd logo, with the old logo, they can sell for as much as $100 a can! Imagine if we knew that back then...we would all be rich!

Here's one I bought a few months ago.

It's in near perfect shape. Original logo! This one expired in 1997.

These guys are hellbent on trying to get Coke to bring it back.

so it seems vintage soda is trading like wine now. who'd a thunk it.
i live on caffeine. black yuban, diet dew and pepsi (diabetic). tea that doubles as paint stripper.

Wouldn't buy it. Might try a sip if someone had it but both seem gross. Saw a meatloaf flavor once too.

On the other hand Jones Root Beer is great. Rarely drink soda, but sugar not HFCS is the way to go. Sugar tastes better.

At least it will help erase the memories if it sucks.

Jack In The Box is supposed to have a bacon shake. Not on the menu but they will add the syrup if you ask for it. For those needing the real bacon thing there's that new Burger King sundae.

Just fry some bacon cut it in pieces and dunk it in vodka for a few days. Then strain it out (or not) and drink it.

After all these years I still can't get the taste of crystal pepsi out of my mind.

+1 on that. I saved several twelve packs and drank it now and then for several years after it went away. It is still made in some countries, I believe in South or Central America.

Cheaper, yes. Much better for you, (over the long term).. no.

HFCS is not your friend. Cut it out of your diet and give your pancreas a rest.
