Default Need help with a AK-Builder drilling jig

I got a drilling jig for the Polish shells and I don't know what all the components are for. I know what the large flat plate is, but what about the smaller one? Also, how do you know the shell is properly placed in the jig?

Curtis makes great products, but he really needs to include instructions on how to use some of them.

check out the pics on his website. Looks like there is a locating screw or pin for the belly of the shell to locate. There are 5 or 6 pics there. I havent got mine yet.

It slides in to support the open sides... It keeps the sides from bending in when you apply pressure with the drill. See this pic: http://ak-builder.com/images/detailed/2/IMG_7275.jpg

In the second pic (http://ak-builder.com/images/detailed/2/IMG_7266.jpg), it shows how to align the blank. "2/8 Insert blank into fixture against stop pin"

Not exactly instructions, but look at all of the pics and info on this page: http://ak-builder.com/index.php?disp...oduct_id=30337

Yeah, I looked at all that. I can't figure out how I'm supposed to use the two smaller plates. I guess I'll have to trial-and-error it.

The smallest plate is a clamp. The allen bolt goes through the bottom of the jig and screws into the plate to clamp the blank in place.

The picture showing how the middle sized plate is used says it all.

Default Large plate in the jig

I used the largest plate to make the jig level when I used the drill press.
The jig work fine for me. Larry in Cookeville

Pm me I will tell you how to use it....the larger plate white is a bolck to lay your jig in it's side for drilling in a vice or clamp, the smaller black one is a spacer support so tou don't crush or bend the upper part of thereciever when applying pressure when drilling the small plate is your clamp and reference plate to clamp your reciever to the jig...I have already done a couple of recievers they have come out perfect..

I thought it was lil odd no instructions, but the pictures on the web site show everything. Man the jig is bad ass. I kept thinking why someone didnt make one long time ago for other blanks.

Curtis has most his instructions on the youtube videos, he has links to a couple on his site, but if you search on youtube there is a lot of demos with his tools. I am sure this was released on the market pretty quick to get it out to us.
