A local gun store of mine is going to be selling Zastava P.A.P.'s cheap, I have heard little about these but am interested in pretty much any AK, so could I get some info on these? Impressions? Oh and is there a way to change out the thumbhole stock stock for a normal one with an actual pistol grip? Any other info is appreciated.
,Thanks |

It is well made. If you want an AK you may not want the PAP. It requires quit a bit of machine work and a bolt change to get it to take standard military AK magazines. The rear of the receiver is cut at an angle, making it difficult to add a standard pistol grip and buttstock. The pistol grip threads have been drilled out and a wood screw goes into the thumbhole stock from above. The pistol grip mount is riveted to the receiver. Some steel single stack magazines can be used in place of the PAP plastic magazines, but not all countries' steel single stack magazines will work in the PAP. The plastic magazine just don't seem as well made as the military ones and may not hold up well. Steel single stack magazines are usually cheap enough though. The PAP can be converted but it's not easy or cheap.
