"...One of America’s busiest airports, Orlando Sanford International, has announced it will opt out of using TSA workers to screen passengers, a move which threatens the highly unpopular federal agency’s role in other airports across the nation.

“The president of the airport said Tuesday that he would apply again to use private operators to screen passengers, using federal standards and oversight,” reports the Miami Herald.

With Sanford International having originally been prevented by the TSA from opting out back in November 2010 when the federal agency froze the ability for airports to use their own private screeners, a law passed by the Senate last month forces the TSA to reconsider applications.

Larry Dale hinted that the move was motivated by the innumerable horror stories passengers have told of their encounters with the TSA, noting that the change was designed to provide a more “customer friendly” operation...."

I checked in once and showed my DHS Orders. TSA chick sez, "What kinda gun you gots? Y'alls needs to carry a fotay." (I was unarmed).
Another sent me to be strip seached for NO reason (I was even in uniform!) and I said, "Why? I work for Janet Napolitano just like you guys...what's the meaning of this?"

"Who's that?" was the reply.

Idiots abound.

All I can say is that I will be heading to Florida in late October for a couple weeks in Orlando with three or four other family members. We always fly. Not flying.

I fly overseas twice a year. Most of these tsa clowns are just a bunch of ghetto morons. A flight from Tangier to Madrid, connect to chicago. Very little harassment, kinda like flying in the 90's. The other way around, sheer pain in the ass.

I have to fly ~44-46 weeks a year for my work.
Any TSA agent worth a pile of Dung would get hired by a Contract Security Screening Company. There are many TSA agents who would never get a job as a Home Improvement Store Security Gard.

When I worked for INS back n the 90's, I was in favor of a professional agency running airport security. The private companies at the time hired a BUNCH of Africans (many who weren't even supposed to be working) and they were absolutely stupid.

As I did prisoner escorts overseas at the time, most times I was unarmed. On domestic flights I was armed. Once when coming back from europe, a guard insisted on patting me down, and even my arms! (I was wearing short sleeves.) Another time I was flying a domestic escort (armed). The security guard was going to wave me through and I declared, as I was supposed to, that I was flying armed and showed her my papers. She then stated to me that since I was armed, I had to go through the metal detector. Go figure.

If we had better control over who gets hired, I would be all for going back to the old way. TSA is one of the worst things to come out of the Bush administration. I have only flown a few times since they have been in place (2003 was the last time), and I wasn't impressed even then.

Idiots at the Santa Barbara Airport confiscated a combination wrench from me Monday on the way back here. The moron asked "did you know you have a wrench greater than 7" (I should be flattered).

" Yes " I answered.

" Did you know they're forbidden"

"No" I answered

"It can't go on the plane"

"Why?" I answered

"Because it's longer than 7""

"Please measure it" I asked (getting pissed)

Now we have 3-4 of the simians of all races working with me now, overseeing the handling of this threatening 1930's Plomb wrench I had scored at a swap meet.

"It's over 7 inches. What do you want to do with it".

" You can stick it any place you want" I politely answered.

He stormed away, I ask the remaining chimps if I'm free to go (apparently the antique tread gauge is deemed non-life threatening and I was allowed to keep that).

I said "IDIOTS" loudly enough to be heard at the Hertz counter downstairs and went to the gate.

They're all mindless f'wits.

I recently flew to Norfolk, Virginia for business. In Nashville, Tennessee I was greeted by the obese TSA idiots; shucked my laptop; removed everything from my pockets; removed my shoes, etc.; stepped into the scanner; raised my arms; received the pat-down; the gay grope, etc. I wanted to shower after that episode.

Leaving Norfolk I shucked my laptop; removed everything from my pockets; removed my shoes, etc. and was greeted by a member of our Armed Forces. He motioned me to walk towards him and as I did he smiled and said I was fine to continue. Very professional. No scanner, not pat-down, no fifty-question repertoire, no gay gropes - just a professional doing his work who could tell by my motions and outline that I was not a threat.

Big difference when a professional is doing the task!

They were more concerned about getting nosy than security at the time. Now these asshats are federalized and if you say anything they can make you miss your flight or have you arrested. I got pulled aside in I think was cedar rapids iowa to be tested for explosive residue,they took a swab/rub of my hands and pakistani.go figure.LOL.
