Default Galil SAR Barrels

So I'm looking at the Galil SAR parts kit on Apex, and I have a couple of questions.

1) The kit includes a 18" barrel. Are there any special issues with a 18" barrel on a SAR besides looking a bit funny? I'm not looking to pay the feds $200, so I would stick with the 18" barrel if I do this.

2) Wikipedia lists the SAR with an overall length, stock folded, of 24.2". Is it safe to assume, then with the 18" barrel, I'm going to get an overall length of 29.2"?

Yes, the journals on the 18" barrel are set too far forward to fit the SAR parts. You will have to buy the rifle length gas piston and tube....good luck finding them without giving up an arm and a leg, or turn down the barrel to fit the parts.
