Pretty good movie, good gunfights. Loved the part when the fast boats spun up the miniguns.

I wanted to see it last night but the wife was too tired.
Was it realistic? I have seen 1 movie in the last 5 years.........can't tolerate the BS but this one looked promising.

I heard it was completely live fire. Does it show?

I dunno about the other FX, but the explosions on the previews sure looked like a couple pounds of black powder and gallons of gasoline, not C4.

Both were recruiting vehicles for the Navy and Army, respectively. "Act of Valor" is a recruiting vehicle for U.S. special operations (specifically the Navy Seals). Our SOF personnel rosters are way down, and the job load is way up. This film is designed to fill the ranks. |

Ok, I just saw it today.
Recruitment tool? Absolutely… like the Pentagon paid for the whole thing. Realistic? Looked good to me, but what do I know? I never served. A lot of it looked like live fire, but again, it's state-of-the-art filmmaking. Either way it looked great. The acting? The action scenes were fine for the most part and very exciting. But several of the personal drama scenes were awkward to say the least. They did their best and I don't think it ruined the movie or anything. The authenticity it added to the film outweighed any negatives if you ask me. Overall, I'd recommend it if you like military action flicks. It's a pretty awesome display of special ops capability. It will also play pretty hard on your emotions so be prepared. I saw a lot of what looked like retired veterans (who came together) in the theatre and they were all wiping their eyes. If you don't feel something watching this shit, you're stone-cold dead. Enjoy! |

How can I put this...back in the day there were quite a few native spanish speakers at Four, AO is CA/SA, so it made sense. Not many blacks. Never ran into anybody that seemed to give a shit, but I wasn't looking for it, so it might have gone over my head. Most seemed more concerned how good an operator you were, not what color you were...

My best buddy just got back from a tour in the horn of Africa so we're going to celebrate his return by going to this movie.

I saw it tonight. It thought it was a good film. No Buds stuff, more from the operational perspective. The firefight scenes were very good. I would like to have it on DVD when it comes out. One thing that puzzled me during the movie, was the SEAL's lack of fire support using the M203, and the FN Mag240 or the M60E2 in some of the battle scenes.
Personally, I liked Blackhawk Down better.(that was my favorite war movie, next to We Were Soldiers Once) |

Well, I went and saw it last night. Wasn't as great as I expected. Made me think it was a video game with real people.

So you shouldn't be wondering about the "SEAL's lack of fire support" any more than you should be wondering why the rainbow unicorns with Mk19s mounted on their backs didn't prance in to help them . . .

Mebbe so, but I'm not the one trying to make sense out of a fictional situation.

A flesh-eating unicorn with twin AA-12s and bin-laden's head mounted on it's horn would be more intimidating.... You could name it Gitmo! lol
