You can see the ass end of the bullet left its imprint in the paper

Looks like it needs forged carrier and forged bolt and 4150 NITRIDE barrel instead of parkerized.

I'm sure Edsinger is waiting to pounce on us AK "purist".

Good luck Rob, and as others have commented, please feed Paul, it just isn't right to starve the lad.

At first I wondered if those fireballs were edited in for some sort of gag.
Adding another 'A' on that awful receiver stamp didn't help it any.
Still, I hope the rifle will settle down and deliver; it really would be nice for an American company to get these things right.

Guys,
@"larger holes" in 2nd group - i honestly think that this could happen because maybe paper wasn't stapled tightly to the cardboard, but I will check in the next episode if it is is keyholing.

@barrel temp - we always try to keep barrels below 450F. In case of C39V2, i take no chances - rifle reached 436F and i stopped Paul from shooting more rounds in barrel test. Same for regular use. We were constantly monitoring temperature to ensure that rifle stays inside "comfort zone" and it is not overheating...

I'm as transparent about everything what is happening with this rifle as possible. You have to understand that there are people out there, who will look for any kind of reason to delegitimize those series at any cost. There is no point to feed them with "excuses"...

Do you know anyone here who don't know anything about C39/RAS47/IO? I mean I don't mind to watch it, it is very predictible results based on what I could see.

I wish we could place bets on whats going to deform/give at certain round counts. It's gonna make the 5k rounds though, even the ras47 did that, but instead of looking like it shot 5k rounds it'll probably look like it's shot 50k.

You realize AKFiles represents a small percentage of Firearms enthusiasts who watch Youtube. It's cool that Rob takes our opinions into account but his reach is way outside of this Messageboard.

I got $20 says the Carrier bolt breaks, or the bolt breaks if this was a full blast , no heat cutoff test.

Even with the heat cut off , I'll still bet something breaks before 5,000 but I'll watch for entertainment.

I say you keep that rifle in "as issued" condition and not swap out the stock. I think we should see what happens to this rifle as it came from the factory, down to the last stock screw.

Nicely done video Rob and Paul.

I keep hoping that the C39v2A is being upgraded and that prior noted issues have been corrected. Still hoping, but I think I am going to be disappointed.

If the continued use of cheap wood for the furniture is an indication, there's a question of how determined Century is to get the rifle right--are they really working on dealing with the problems or doing just enough to get by?

I agree with this 100%, for all the rifles that have been tested or will be tested.

I really hope this rifle survives. I would love to purchase a milled AK but can't afford one. This one however, I could.

I'm assuming this "Alpha" version is still using a cast bolt?
What's so challenging about using forged or billet parts?
PSA finally woke up and started using them, so why can't these other American manufactures?

Anyways, I'm glad to see this series from AKOU back up. I always enjoy these videos.

This is Century's most tempting offering. Supposedly, this receiver and barrel are legit, but it will need bolt and carrier upgrades for serious work. At this price point though, the WASR is still winning.

If all you care about is that the receiver used to be a chunk of steel, and it's been milled out in a CNC machine, I guess it's "legit".

It looks nothing like a type 3 receiver at all.

I saw one of these in person and liked it but not that BCG design. Even before knowing AKs I could find enough instances of issues with that to stay away.

As for keyholing, the holes do look funky to me but I'd say that looks like it has more to do with the paper. The stock it is printed on does make a difference in how the holes form, and lighter stuff can do weird things especially if it is not struck at a perfect 90 degree angle. Those kind of targets are not always printed on great stuff.

Edit: Is it me though, or does that barrel look weird around 4:00 with the look at the Green Mountain stamp. Like it is bulged or something? Optical illusion?

Someone should start a poll:

Bolt breaks @ 2000, 3k, etc...
C39 = grenade @ 2k, 3k, etc
Wood will completely evaporate by 4k, 5k etc

Lol, then again, I'm guessing people will want to select more than one. Maybe add:

All of the above

Why have we not seen other guns tested temp monitored so closely?
I know he checks when he mag dumps but I've never seen them stop after so few rounds.
Did other rifles just not overheat or is there a design issue where this model overheats easily? Is it the furniture?
600 rounds in and they have to slow down? This is some BS.
I think every AK tested passed though the 1000 round count.
