Default Sale on Wolf 7.62x39 FMJ at SOG

Southern Ohio has Wolf 7.62x39 FMJ on sale for $3.09 per box or $154 per case
Shipping calculated after the sale. 3% fee for CC.
To the door it was $183 for me on previous order.

Shipping was 21 so with the credit card fee, it worked out to be 180 shipped.

The credit card fee is BS, but still a decent deal.

The shipping calculated after placing your order is crazy and I have never purchased an item online in that way. They need to update their website with a postage calculator.

The credit card fee is fair. The credit card companies actually do charge that fee. The shipping is also fair too. I agree it would be nice to know, but it's probably the cheapest way they can get ammo to you. When a company is putting a product on my doorstep for a good percentage cheaper price than anyone else, they do it the right way if you ask me...

I received mine yesterday and it looks like these have a 073 code on the front of the box. Does this indicate a March 2007 manufacture date?

The consensus is that the Ukraine factory that produced this ammo has been bombed out and is no longer operating. It makes sense it is older production.

Also, anyone had a look to see if these are these poly coated cases?

Isn't this the stuff that was corrosive primed but marked as non corrosive?

I personally don't care but I just recall some thing about Wolf Ukraine having issues with that.

There is a Ukraine mil-surplus that is corrosive.

I would like to know, because cleaning procedures will be different for any corrosive ammo.

That blows.
1-2cents is not worth the extra cleaning and worries for me.
Have to save it for the 500+ round events.

Any way to tell if this is corrosive? Would Wolf be able to answer this question based on the lot number?

Cleaning after using corrosive ammo can be more time consuming, and depending on your geography, the onet of rust can be very quick.

In the past Wolf exchanged the corrosive ammo from Ikraine, but I am sure that was because it was advertised as non corrosive.

Only way to tell for sure is to do the plate test. Take fine sandpaper to a piece of scrap steel plate or sheet until it is shiny bare metal. Pull the bullet and powder from a cartridge, chamber the empty brass in a gun, put the muzzle a half inch away from the plate and fire off the primer. Clean gun as if it was corrosive. Leave plate a few days in a normal humidity environment then examine for rust. If the area where the primer deposited is significantly rustier than the unaffected areas it is corrosive. No difference, it is non. Of course if you live in a desert with 5% humidity it won't rust even if corrosive...

It was definitely advertised as non-corrosive and that is what it says on the box.

I bought this ammo to shoot, and it's not the end of the world if it is corrosive, but that's not what I paid for. I emailed Wolf and waiting to see what they say about the lot number I purchased. Thanks for the testing procedure, I'll see what I come up with and post it here.

Anyone know if the 073 lot number represents March, 2007 production?

Clean with soap/water, windex or good ol GI bore cleaner. No worries then about corrosive ammo. Hell I still have and shoot it.
