Hi Hazmat:

I already own a 620 mm barrel Tigr in 7,62x54R, but I am a little bit courious. Do you find any difference (accuracy, recoil and so on) when shooting one or another rifle?. Is there a big difference at rifle finish between NDM and Tigr?. Would you say that caliber and used ammo make a big difference?

It feels like there are more SVD and NDM-86 owners in Arizona then anywhere else. We should start an Arizona SVD club or something.

Nice looking rifle. Why isn't your woman busy cleaning?

Who makes the flip level you have on your scope?

here's my PSL built it myself from a kit-you'll notice it has nodac spud receiver so any ak style stocks fit it. just waiting on my dez arms adjustable gas block.

All these rifles are gorgeous, gonna be my next purchase when I find a halfway good deal.

Well, had my chance this afternoon and got outbid in the last 15 minutes
A bit depressing actually after the ordeal, but I did find a deal on another RPK anyway.

Sorry for the late response, I haven't kept up on this thread like I should have.

Accuracy was weird. With 7N1, my Tiger was getting ~2" groups at 100 yds. When I started using my handloads, I was able to keep them under a nickel at 100.

With the NDM, I tried Black Hills Match and got similar results to the 7N1, around 2". But here's the strange part. I've got a shit ton of Norinco .308. Some is mil-surp and some is commercial. With the Norinco ammo, I was getting the same as the Tiger and the handloads: under a nickel at 100.

Finish-wise, the Russian is paint-over-park and is well applied. On the NDM, the finish looks to be baked-on enamel.

To be honest, I don't shoot the NDM all that much anymore. With the scarcity of replacement parts, particularly for the .308 version, she's more a safe queen and photo model these days. As for the Tiger, I used it for exploding targets at the MG shoot I work during the Sturgis Rally when the boss forgot his DPMS LAR 308. Did good once I got it dialed in for the short range (25 yds) we were shooting the targets at.

So since I posted up those pics, I took a more updated one after I replaced (but did not discard) the stocks on the NDM.

Picked up that stockset off GB for a whopping $165 BIN. The only thing that's different about it is the built in recoil pad. Other than that, everything was A-OK. One thing I learned is that Russian SVD stocks are not drop-in fit with the NDM. I had to shim the buttstock to fit as the grip screw on the NDM was wayyyy to long to secure it properly. I also had to handfit the handguards.

"hazmat97", What flash hider did you put on the Tiger? I see that it is not an SVD front sight/flash hider combo.

The markings on it say Fox River. It came with the gun that way. The only thing I've done to it was paint it. I wanted to install a correct flash hider, but with the threaded brake already installed, that was a no-go.

A little grinding off both the front and back. Fortunately, the SVD mag has more meat than the PSL's do, so nothing has to be added as with the Lahti.
