A few years ago RPK-74M was unobtainium in the US.

Thanks to the vepr 1v line, k-var barrels, and the influx of parts and accessories straight from Russia, there are now 20 or so built RPK-74M rifles stateside. I would venture to say there are probably as many or more not yet completed.

Not jumping on one of the 5.56 Veprs and associated 5.45 parts from KVAR might be one of the few AK regrets I hold....

Just wait for a nice Vepr 1v to pop up for sale. It took me about 2 years to find one in the condition and price I was comfortable with. Let me tell you tho, it wasn't cheap so expect to pay a nice amount for one.

This. Same goes for the barrel.

Even I was late in the game as far as deals go. Irierider has less in his RPK-74M, PO3.5x21p, and suppressor than I have in just my rifle...

I must say though, it has been worth ever penny I paid. It's a rifle I never plan to part with and one the favorites in my collection. I plan on leaving mine 5.56 though as I don't plan on shooting it much. It's close enough imo.

Worth every penny for sure. I did have it converted to 5.45, and it is a shooter. Even so, it will hold it's value exceptionally well considering how rare they are in the US.
